INNA LILLAHI WA INNA ILAYHI RAJI’UN“Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Allah we shall return.” Enam Ali MBE - Among the most revered and cherished members of the Bangladeshi community, has passed away at the age of 61 following a brave and courageous two-year battle against cancer. A man of man...

I am deeply saddened of the news of the death of Enam Ali MBE. It is a huge shock to us all. My deepest condolences and sympathies are with his family at this difficult time. He worked tirelessly to profile the contributions of the British Bangladeshi community in all institutions. In particular, in the catering industry as founder of the British Curry Awards, which celebrated the multi billion pound industry that has been a spring board of economic success for the community ever since the first generation of Bangladeshis arrived and settled in the U.K. It is no exaggeration to say his work in the curry industry helped contribute to making curry Britain’s national dish. He helped shape society for the better and ensured successive Prime Ministers and Opposition leaders among others, recognised and celebrated the economic and cultural contributions made by the British Bangladeshi community generally and the British curry industry in particular. His achievements were of course far reaching and went beyond his industry. This included his charitable work which involved raising over two million pounds for various charitable causes close to his heart.
I’ve known him for over two decades and he affectionately called me Bagni (niece - in Bangla) and I called him Mama (maternal uncle). Enam mama was always incredibly kind and generous with his support to me. He was always there giving words of encouragement and advice. Although I was elected to a different party to the one he supported, he took great pride in my election victories and it came from the heart. I’ll always remember his warmth and kindness to me. He had a special gift for making all those he encountered feel special and valued with that wonderful smile. His loss will be greatly felt by all those who knew him and especially those of us in the British Bangladeshi community.

Please watch this unacceptable behaviour of those ground Officer’s in Sylhet Osmani international airport with our elderly citizens UK NRB’s who’s are so innocent and not able to confrontation with them just taking shouting rude behaviour from this officers, I don’t know when will be stop this impolite behaviour to our NRB’s , my heart goes out for them who made our country Bangladesh what is today by internationally. NRBs are promoting our nation, cultures and success globally. They are the backbone of our economy. if NRB’s stop flying with Biman within month many of these officers will lost their job and most of the planes will go bankrupt. So they should treat the NRBs with much honor and dignity and behave in proper way.
