When someone tells me they do Facebook ads when really they've been boosting their posts.
Happy weekend!
Not posted for a while (please do as I say not as I do) so thought I'd share a few nuggets about me.
🔘I'm a tight Northerner living in Surrey
🔘I like to stay in nice hotels but I always take my own snacks and water (I NEVER pay hotel prices for water!)
🔘I love Mulberry bags (I own quite a few) but I'm also an avid M&S Food yellow sticker hunter
🔘I lose it when my son leaves the lights on as I sit there burning my Elemis candles
🔘I'm taking my son to Gaucho for his birthday tonight but his birthday cake is a Tesco basic (he won't eat it anyway) 🤷♀️ Oh, and I've NEVER made him a birthday cake AND I have zero shame for that.
Indulge me, what are your contradictions?

Delete those hashtags
Evening, I love a scheduler and I always re-pupose content for use across mulitiple platforms, I do it ALL the time (this is re-purposed from my IG post this morning). But, if you're using your Instagram post for others e.g. Facebook and LinkedIn please remember to lose most of the hashtags - I'd suggest leaving only 3 on for these 2 platforms.
If you don't make this edit, your posts will look... dare I say it a bit amateur... there I've said it.
If you don't want to look like #spamelaanderson remember to hit that delete button,

Are you thinking about Facebook Ads? They are a fabulous way of growing and scaling your business but they will not work if you don’t have these fundamentals in place.
• Products or services that already sell
• A mobile optimised website or sales page & it must load quickly
• Be it a website or sales page it should be a proven converter of your organic traffic
• Enough margin in your product to allow for the cost of advertising
They are no silver bullet.
If you have these in place and want to chat about the best way to ‘dip your toe’ for your business pop me a message. 🪄
I talk about Facebook ads a lot, I would...it's what I do (and love to do). But I realise some of you may have never opened up ads manager let alone set a campaign up.
Let's assume your pixel is working, your tracking is sorted and you've done all the extra bits we need to do in the age of iOS 14 (Verified your domain, set up your aggregated events and turned on Conversion API) you are ready to start thinking about setting up your campaign (thinking only, you also need to map out your campaign and think about creative / formats before you come to make it)
This is the screen you're faced with when you hit the create button - this is where you set your objectives - what you want Facebook to optimise for.
The options it gives you are set up for a customer journey / funnel
Awareness - Consideration - Conversion (If only it was that linear 😉)
These objectives all use different parts of the algorithm, the objectives on the right being more difficult or using the more complex part of the algorithm than the audience eyeball objectives on the left...
I'm going to be talking about each of the objectives and when to use them over the next week or so stay tuned if you're thinking of dabbling.
DM me or comment if you have any questions you'd like me to cover on this.

Have you ever wondered how Facebook and Instagram target ads?
It might be from using them or considering using them for your products or service or from your own personal experience - why the hell am I being stalked by sofas after being on the sofa workshop website???
To put it simply they are using demographic data from your account - when you signed up you gave FB a load on information about yourself, your age, location, gender, possibly marital status etc...
Demographics are fused with information about your interests and behaviour both on and off Facebook.
On the platform it's looking at the content you are interested in / interact with, pages you like, ads you click on etc...
Off platform it collects Information from advertisers and their partners, and also FB marketing partners, who provide data such as purchase behaviour or purchase intent (which sounds scary but is by no means unique to FB).
If you agree, your activity on websites and apps off of Facebook - this is from the pixel that sits on most of the websites you visit and links your onsite actions to your user profile - it's this bit of code that allows advertisers to retarget you amongst other things.
Next time you see and ad and wonder why is this is being shown to me? click the ... in the top right corner of the ad, from there you can click Why am I seeing this ad? It should then give you some insights in to why this ad was served to you - you can also adjust your ad preferences from this screen too.
As ever, hope you found this useful, DM me with any questions and most importantly have a fabulous weekend 🍹

Of course I mean the Facebook Ad Library not the one near Sainsbury's.
It's a really useful insight tool for both ad users and those who are currently only using organic for their business.
It's super easy to use - it's basically a search engine.
It's a great source of inspiration, have look at your competition and also those who are in a related world in either product or audience terms.
I find it useful to understand the positioning, messaging and formats used (the ones with the most impressions will be most likely the ones that bring them the best results).
Whether your business uses Facebook ads or not, the information contained in it is insightful and great for creating ideas.
It’s free, easy to use, and there’s a wealth of knowledge waiting to be explored.
Let me know how you get on 😊

Going in to this week like...
I’m doing a fabulous programme with Shaa Wasmund at the moment.
She recommends we all think like Bey when we’re having a wobble or second guessing ourselves. (Arnie for the lads).
I’m going in with my bat 😂
