Not talking about me after my recent birthday (although I am 😅), I'm talking about what's gone before.

Sometimes we're so focused on trying to improve results through new creative that we forget about our previous winners.

Remember to look back and review whether previous ads are worth a re-test (sometimes ads just need a rest) or if there is an element from previous bankers that could be included in your current executions?

Test, test, test but this doesn't always need to be from scratch.

This is one of the questions I'm asked the most - the answer is usually well, it depends...
▪️ A good start is:-
- How many do you want to sell?
- What's your target cost per sale / sign-up / download?
Turn the sales target in to a daily number and multiply it by your target CPA (or your actual one if you're already advertising) that's your estimated daily spend.

▪️ Whatever your number above comes to, if you're looking for sales you'll want to be spending at least £75 per day - more if sales require a funnel / multiple ad touchpoints in order to convert or during key ecommerce periods like the one we're in.
The more you spend the more data you'll have to start making decisions on so the trick is to balance this during the initial testing phases.

▪️ I advise my clients to budget for 3 months testing - you're unlikely to strike gold with your first campaign, the best, sustainable results come from constant, structured testing - not chucking a load of stuff in and wondering afterwards what you've learnt 😬)

Just because you're paying for ads doesn't mean you can neglect your organic social profiles and posting.

When a potential customer sees your ad they are very likely to check out your socials before they decide to buy from you - if they arrive at your profile and it's neglected or frankly a bit shonky they are going to bounce away as quickly as they came.

Poor organic socials are high on my list of 'must put rights' when a potential new client talks to me about running paid ads.

If you're running ads or plan to - get yours up to scratch and then keep them regularly updated with quality content.

Reality check - you are not going to create a totally new, groundbreaking idea.
We are literally bombarded with marketing messages every single day (estimates range from around 100 to '000s - either way it's a lot!)
Every idea has already been done.
Get comfortable with that and 'borrow brilliantly'.
In the Meta world that means keeping your eyes open to your feed - save what you like and think about how you can adapt it for your product; and use the Meta Ads Library intentionally - not just to look up your competition - who and what else could you take inspiration from?

This stuff isn't easy, but understanding how much your business can afford to pay for a sale or new customer based on initial basket value, margin and their potential lifetime value is a good start.

Getting the hang of writing effective ad copy can take practise - here are 6 quick tips to short cut yours;-

Audience Insights Are Key 🎯
Do not begin to write your masterpiece until you really understand who you are writing it for.
Make sure you know not just who they are, but for what and why they need your product or service.
Your copy needs to resonate with them on a personal level – (It helps me to think of just one person) so, tap into their needs and aspirations.

Solve, Solve, Solve 🛠️
Addressing your audience's pain points is your superpower. 💥 Highlight their challenges and offer solutions. Become their hero by showing how your product/service can be their game-changer.
Make it personal, make it relatable.

Keep It Snappy ⏱️
In a world of never-ending scrolling & fleeting attention spans, concise brevity is your BFF. ✂️
Trim the fat to keep your ad copy on point.
Use active language and simple words BUT do test against longer copy versions - remembering to keep EVERTHING else in the ad the same.

Make It Clear What They Need To Do Next 📢
You’re advertising because ultimately you want the audience to do something – make sure it’s obvious what that it is.

I don't work with every client who comes to me, sometimes they are just not ready for ads.

Are you?

There are no guarantees but if you have a decent organic presence, your product is selling without ads, you have a decent conversion rate and there's enough margin to fund the acquisition cost you'll need to pay, then you have the best chance of success.

If any of those are missing right now then I would pause and sort before moving ahead.

Well, it's a self serve platform so yes you could run them yourself however...
Meta make it really easy to spend money with them, Ad Manager (where the real results happen) is not an easy platform to understand if you're brand new to ads, it's a very different beast to boosting posts!
My advice is do a course and then get someone to check over your set up or invest in a nurture package with someone who knows what they're doing.

This is one of those things that means more to me than it does to the clients who want to work with me - I think I've been asked if I'm certified only once in a discovery call...

Well I am, I'm freshly refreshed (as of this rainy Sunday afternoon) and in Meta's eyes at least, it 'identifies candidates who possess with advanced competency in the skills, tools, advertising policies, and best practices required to buy ads on Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram.'

Anyone else a bit obsessed with certificates that nobody else seems to care about 😅

Meta ads are not a tap, you can't just switch them on to make sales if nobody wants what you're selling.
If you have low conversion rates, unproven products or an untested funnel you are probably not ready for Facebook and Instagram ads, instead focus on what needs fixing and getting some organic traction first.
