Starting TODAY, join The Courier, NSR & NUTV for the launch of Student Media Afternoons!

Every Wednesday in term time from 1:30pm, you can sign up for a range of multimedia projects and get involved with our incredible community. The sessions will take place in the Bamburgh Room of NUSU Central/The Hadrian Building on most weeks, though notice will be given for room changes.

Content sign-ups will run from 1:30-2pm, before the second half of the session switches to a talk from a guest speaker. This will be a weekly occurrence, and every guest speaker will have a background in multimedia production of some form - well worth sticking around until 2pm!

Look forward to seeing you all there!

The Courier will be joining Newcastle Student Radio, NUTV and a range of amazing groups at this year's Societies Fair! 🎉

Student Media will be present for each day of the fair, taking place for three days from Sunday 19th to Tuesday 21st in Venue (level -2 of the Students' Union). Once in Venue, you can find us to the right of the stage (we're marked with orange on the map)!

That said, the societies at the fair will change each day, so it's well worth popping along whenever possible to see the full range of what's on offer!

So feel free to stop by and see what you can get involved in over the next year!

Our Story

Established in 1948, the Courier is the fully independent weekly student newspaper of the Students’ Union at Newcastle University produced by students, for students.

Any Newcastle University student can write for the Courier and it’s never too late to get involved, whether you’re a writer, illustrator or photographer. Whether you want to review your favourite film, comment on worldwide issues or hold your university to account with some investigative journalism, there’s space in the Courier for everyone’s voice to be heard.

We hold our drop-in writers’ meetings on Wednesdays during termtime in the Planning Room of the Students’ Union from 1:30pm to 2:30pm, so come along to find out a bit more about us. Unable to attend the writers’ meetings? No worries! All our leftover articles get posted in our Facebook groups, so make sure you join them all; simply search ‘the Courier 2019/20’ and the name of the section you’re interested in.
