Last weekend we held our North East founding meeting of the Revolutionary Communist Party, as well as a rally on Northumberland Street.

With megaphone in hand, we made speeches proudly explaining why we need a Revolutionary Communist Party, why the problems of capitalist society cannot be solved without a complete overhaul of the system, and why we cannot truly free Palestine without stamping out all capitalist and imperialism power on this earth.

We need people to help us build. We are a thriving revolutionary organisation, we are proud to uphold and fight for the ideas of Marx, Engels, Lenin and Trotsky and we are serious about communism. We will not rest until this decrepit, rotten system is defeated and the workers of the world are in charge.

Grace here from Newcastle Communists. I have been part of a communist group for the last decade. We are launching a new party, the Revolutionary Communist Party, on May bank holiday weekend!

It's clear to see that capitalism is falling apart before our eyes. Schools are crumbling; 10% of the British population are languishing on NHS waiting lists; public, household and corporate debt are all at unprecedented levels; 1/3 of children are living in poverty.

I refuse to believe that this system is the only way we can live. We can build something better. We can create a society that does not have poverty, inequality and exploitation baked into its foundations.

This is why we are launching the Revolutionary Communist Party. We need a party to organise revolutionary workers and youth, which can act as a lever to end this horrific system and build something better.

A political party needs money if its going to function. We need to pay our full time workers, pay for equipment and printing costs, pay legal fees when our members are arrested, which has happened repeatedly in recent months.

Tyneside Communists joined GMB and Unite members alongside parents and children to protest North Tyneside Council's plan to privatise School Dinner provision. We spoke to a GMB Branch Officer who explained that "The Council have refused to talk to the union about this plan. Its been presented as a done deal. We're not going to take that lying down. If they vote to privatise the service the campaign to bring it back in house will start immediately".
We also spoke to a parent who explained that she'd had a letter from her son's school telling her that they couldn't honour any balance she had on her son's prepayment card for his dinners after April 1st as they didn't know who would be delivering the service.
This illustrates the nonsense that privatising services is more efficient. Instead it leads to poor quality, crappy wages and conditions and waste. In this case you can add chaos and confusion. This at a time when many councils are bringing services back in house for that very reason.
It also demonstrates the short sightedness of the Labour Council. We understand that the Council didn’t even bother to put in a tender to run the service themselves. North Tyneside has something like 27,000 school students. As Stuart Gilhespy GMB organiser pointed out in a press release today “The council is penny pinching at the expense of North Tyneside kids and hardworking staff”.
Labour councillors have hidden behind the “dented shield” strategy for forty years. That sounds more hollow now than ever before. Kids and low paid workers shouldn’t suffer as a consequence of short sighted discredited methods.
The Communists oppose privatisation. We demand that all privatised services are brought back in house with no compensation to the profiteers.
A communist programme is the only fighting alternative to endless cuts and misery. That's why we are building a Revolutionary Communist Party. - Join us!
