Hope for the best, prepare for the worse.
No one wants to think something could go wrong on their holiday, reality is, lack of preparation can make an already stressful situation 10 x more difficult to manage.
I hate these pictures for obvious reasons but wanted to share an experience I had while I was on holiday and had an allergic reaction to a spider bite.
Luckily, I was surround by calm people and a brilliant medical team.
I couldn’t even tell you when I was bitten but my lip suddenly started growing and then my face.
I had a doctor come out to the hotel to see me and when it got worse, I went into a Turkish medical centre.
The care I received was nothing short of amazing, I think you can see from the image of me in the medical centre, how calm I was when I had no idea what was happening to me!
Thanks to calm people & credible medical team my holiday was not spoilt. I had to spend one night inside my apartment (through choice of my own due to the look of my face) with Netflix and a kebab but then I was in & out of the medical centre every few hours for a IV and then back out by the pool.
My friend said, when I was on the IV my face was visibly shrinking in front of her.
Luckily, this happened early enough into my holiday it didn’t affect my flight home however had it happened later, I would not have been able to fly.
I always take out travel insurance as I have existing medical conditions and I worry about problems aboard. However, I never took it out expecting this to happen. Thank god I did as all this treatment including medication to take home with me cost me £30 excess and the medical centre took care of all the paperwork and everything for me.
Had I not been able to fly home, my insurance would have covered it!!
Now I appreciate, these images will shock a lot of people and I swear I did NOT get turkey fillers (despite the joke I played on my Mum with one of the images – I make jokes out of award situations!).
