There were some lively discussions and tough decisions to be made at the Digital Cinema Media Awards Judging Day yesterday! 🎬

Thank you to our esteemed panel of judges for their time and expertise in deciding the winning cinema advertising campaigns. This year's entries were of an incredibly high standard, with big creative ideas, brilliant strategic media planning, and outstanding results for brands.

We can't wait to reveal the winners at the DCM Awards Ceremony at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly on Wednesday 18 September. 🏆

Despicable Me 4 shot back up to the top spot at the UK box office on National Cinema Day weekend with £1.24m. That takes its total to a huge £44.6m, and the film has delivered approximately 13 16-34 adult TVRs across the industry. 🚀🍌

Deadpool & Wolverine continued its sensational run, only slightly behind Despicable Me 4 with £1.22m. This brings its total to £54.7m, and it has delivered approximately 22 16-34 TVRs across the industry. ❤️💛

Colleen Hoover’s It Ends With Us added £1.1m in third place. That takes its total after four weekends in cinemas to £18.6m. 📖💐

Specsavers has teamed up with Cineworld Cinemas to bring its renowned 'Should’ve' humour to the big screen. 🎬👓🍿

In a first of its kind partnership, brokered by Manning Gottlieb OMD and Digital Cinema Media, and working closely with DCM Studios, Specsavers will be the first advertiser to stage a takeover of non-standard media placements that humorously disrupt the cinema environment.

Alien: Romulus continues to hug the top spot at the UK box office, adding £2m across the weekend and another £529k on Bank Holiday Monday for a new total of £8.8m. 👽👩‍🚀

Colleen Hoover’s It Ends With Us stayed in second place, falling just 35% to £1.8m. It added a further £485k on Monday which takes its total to a terrific £16.3m. 📖💐

Deadpool & Wolverine continued its sensational run. It achieved £1.8m from Friday to Sunday, and added a further £505k on Monday for a new total of £52.6m. It is now the fourth highest grossing film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. ❤️💛

Michael is responsible for developing DCM’s award-winning research programme, helping media agencies and advertisers to understand and maximise the effectiveness of cinema advertising.

Last year, DCM’s ‘Centre of Attention’ research piece, led by Michael, won the Research Effectiveness Award at the Media Research Awards.

Colleen Hoover’s novel adaptation It Ends With Us opened and took the top spot at the UK box office with £4.5m. This is the fifth biggest ‘romantic drama’ opening in the last decade, reminding us of this genre’s popularity, surpassing The Fault In Our Stars (£3.4m), Little Women (£3.6m) and A Star Is Born (£3.8m). 📖💐

After holding the top spot for two weeks, Deadpool & Wolverine moved to second place with £4m. This sequel has now crossed the £40m mark; surpassing Dune: Part II (£39.6m) to place as the second biggest release of the year. Film Monitor data suggests that Deadpool & Wolverine has delivered approximately 16 16-34 TVRs in just 11 days. ❤️💛

Despicable Me 4 moved to the third spot with £1.5m in its fifth weekend of release. With £35.5m to date, Illumination's sixth film in the franchise is the fourth biggest title of 2024, tracking only 10% behind Dune: Part II. 🚀🍌

NHS Blood and Transplant have teamed up with two of Marvel’s most-loved superheroes in the new Deadpool & Wolverine blockbuster hit, to encourage and inspire potential blood donors to sign up to give blood and save lives.

The partnership, brokered by Digital Cinema Media and Manning Gottlieb OMD, centres around a 30” cobranded advert, in which Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman encourage potential donors to sign up to donate blood. ❤️ 💛

After the biggest opening weekend of the year to date last weekend at the UK box office, Deadpool & Wolverine posted the biggest second weekend of the year to date. It added £8m, which takes its total after 11 days in cinemas to £33.3m. ❤️💛

Despicable Me 4 stayed in second, adding £2.6m to reach a new total of £30.8m. Film Monitor data suggests that 36% of the audience are 16-34 so far, which means that Despicable Me 4 has delivered approximately 9 16-34 adult TVRs across the industry. 🚀🍌

Twisters took third with £1.2m, and after 17 days is up to £10.2m. It's been holding up very well against some huge blockbusters, and still has more to come. 🌪🐄

Despicable Me 4 fell to second, adding £3.1m. After 17 days in cinemas, the Illumination blockbuster is up to £25.3m, and has delivered approximately 8 16-34 adult TVRs across the industry. 🚀🍌

Twisters, the modern day take on the 1996 classic, took third place, adding another £1.5m to reach a new total of £7.9m after 10 days in cinemas. 🌪🐄

On another strong weekend for the UK box office, Despicable Me 4 stayed in the top spot, adding £4.9m to a new total of £17.4m, and with the school holidays starting this week, there’s so much more to come. 🚀🍌

Twisters was this weekend’s biggest new film, opening with £4.1m, which includes £1m from previews after opening on Wednesday. 🌪🐄

Inside Out 2 came in third, adding £1.5m on its sixth weekend. That takes its total to £47.2m, and only Toy Story 3, Toy Story 4, and Incredibles 2 have been bigger from Pixar. 😊😭🤬

Despicable Me 4 ended Inside Out 2’s four week stay at the top of the UK box office, opening with £8.9m, the third-highest opening weekend of the year. 🚀🍌

Inside Out 2 added £2.2m, which takes its total after five weekends in cinemas to £44.5m, further cementing its position as the biggest film of 2024. The film has delivered approximately 14 16-34 adult TVRs across the industry, and 17 16-34 women TVRs. 😊😭🤬

Horror breakout Longlegs came on to the schedule less than four weeks ago, and has opened with the second-biggest opening for a horror title of the year with £1.4m. 😱🏚

Inside Out 2 once again took the top spot at the UK box office, adding £5.1m to achieve a total of £40.1m. It has now overtaken Dune: Part II (£39.5m) to become the biggest film of 2024, and has delivered approximately 12 16-34 adult TVRs across the industry. 😊😭🤬

A Quiet Place: Day One stayed in second, adding £1.6m. After two weekends in cinemas, the sci-fi prequel is up to £6.2m and has a good shot of joining the previous two A Quiet Place films at over £10m. 🔇🤫

Taking the third spot this week is Bad Boys: Ride Or Die, adding £447k for a new total to £11.1m. It's the second biggest Bad Boys film to date, almost £2.5m ahead of Bad Boys 2. 🚓🚁

Yesterday morning we held our annual DCM Upfronts showcase event at ODEON Cinemas Luxe Leicester Square. Thank you to everyone who came along – we hope you enjoyed the event and took away some key insights and creative ideas to inspire your upcoming cinema advertising campaigns.

The morning was jam-packed!

🎬 Our CEO Karen Stacey kicked off proceedings, introducing the theme of the day and how cinema can MAXIMISE brand campaigns, especially when starting with cinema to launch a new product, new message, or new campaign.

🎬 Founder of Craft Media London, Jen Jones, hosted a special client panel with Alex Taborda, Head of Media for the Professional Products Division at L'Oréal, Steph Ferreira, Head of Customer Marketing & Digital at Hotpoint, and Josh Hurrell, TVP Marketing & Media Planning Lead at Sky. They each spoke about how their brands have adopted a strategy, and how the medium plays a vital role within the wider media mix.

🎬 Andrew Tenzer, Co-founder of Burst Your Bubble, presented our brand-new research piece: The Cultural Power of Cinema. He expertly explained cinema’s leading role in co-viewing experiences, and how brands using the medium can maximise commercial and social impact.

🎬 Content Business Director Tom Linay and DCM Studios’ Creative Director Jeremy Kolesar (DCM’s latest double act) then took us through some of the highlights of the upcoming film slate, alongside new creative opportunities for brands, including bespoke brand partnerships, ScreenX and 4DX, and anamorphic 3D advertising.

Inside Out 2 continues to take the top spot this weekend at the UK box office with £6m, dropping only 23% in its third week of release. This animated sequel has now crossed the £30m mark, with a total gross of £32m. 😊😭🤬

A Quiet Place: Day One had a great opening weekend, with a gross of £2.9m (including Thursday previews). The 3-day opening of £2.4m is 23% higher than A Quiet Place (£1.9m) and 9% more than A Quiet Place Part II (£2.2m). 🔇🤫

Kalki 2898 AD opened in third spot this weekend with £502k, and including previews is up to £886k. This is the highest opening for an Indian film this year, as well as the highest for a film not in the English language. 💎🏛

Inside Out 2 stayed in the top spot at the UK box office with a terrific second weekend of £7.8m. That takes its total after 10 days in cinemas to £23.3m, making it the second biggest film of 2024. 😊😭🤬

The Bikeriders made an encouraging start, opening with £1.1m including £9k from previews. 🏍🛣

Bad Boys: Ride Or Die came in third, adding £1m which takes its total to £9.1m. It has now overtaken Bad Boys 2 (£8.7m) to become the second highest grossing film in the series. 🚓🚁
