Hey! It’s .du here to takeover Day 4. Traveling and nature always inspire me a lot. I love to abstract the views into simple geometric shapes or sometimes a little bit psychedelic way. And I love to use vibrant colors to express a positive energy to my audience and myself as well. From time to time I received many positive feedbacks from strangers’ emails or messages saying that my Instagram posts even inspired them to conquer cancer treatment or other difficulties in their lives which really surprised me a lot and I feel it is so lucky and worthy for me as an artist. I truly believe that Nature and Art could cure everything. How’s your summer vacation going? Have you got any inspirations?

To celebrate the third annual Global Movie Day, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscars Awards official)selected five artists from five continents to commemorate Global Movie Day with an illustration inspired by their favorite movie genre. I was so lucky to be the artist representing Asia, and my favorite movie genre is musicals.
During the creating process I watched almost all famous musical movies. I was so touched by the spirit of musical movies. I love it because it’s joyful, warm and romantic, meanwhile it’s kind of crazy, naive and old-fashion but it says so many things that words can’t say which I found it has the similar spirit with my geometric abstraction art style.

🌟Intro to the Artist 🌟
Lauren McNicoll (b. London, 1995) is a ceramicist and artist living and working in South London. Her multidisciplinary practice encompasses a space that sits between sculpture, performance, and workshop.
Rooted in themes of q***rness, community, and feminism, McNicoll‘s work grapples with the ways in which history and societal expectations play out in interpersonal encounters. Her sculptural output defies conventional forms, existing as ‘architectural bodies’ or ‘bodily architecture’; exploring the sensibilities and edges of the q***r female body. Recognizing that our interactions with the world are often unexpected and inevitable, Lauren creates her work and conducts q***r body casting workshops from a place of deep trust within both herself, her participants, and those she engages with. The result is intimate, personal, and powerful.

Will we save the world? No, and I think that’s one of the most narcissistic messages in history.

What I believe we can do, at the very least, is convey a message of reflection and take a stand. I’m not talking about a stance between good and evil; this isn’t a movie. I’m talking about putting “value” and “money” on the scales, and in my opinion, sometimes, it’s good to tip in favor of values. It’s also true that, unfortunately, I feel we live in a “demo-mafia.” Yes to freedom of speech, but only up to a point, and unfortunately, that’s very serious.

I’ve been drawing professionally for 15 years.
I started as an illustrator, then became a photographer and graphic designer. I opened a branding studio, kept drawing, and perhaps gave voice to a style that has now become a trend. In essence, I dug my own grave, as they say. So, the best solution for me was to evolve, and since the world of design always seemed very interesting to me, a short while ago, I began turning my creations into design objects and products. Drawing and thinking about new concepts, how to simplify forms, the use of materials, and costs is one of the few things I enjoy doing. Along with cooking and gardening. Actually, I also enjoy going to parties during Milan Design Week. That’s the real reason.

This week, we’re delighted to showcase a unique collaboration between and with a series of visual communication work designed for !

Trellis is a program that connects UCL researchers, east London communities, and local artists to co-create meaningful artwork on themes deeply rooted in our community. In Trellis this year – the theme Field Works, uniting 6 groups of east London artists and UCL researchers whose work will be exhibited at Hoxton Hall.

Today we’re pleasantly introducing the first group – Rechonski and Jane Wilcock with their project ‘Along The Lane’, from which they explore the flow of memory, culture and social histories within the East End of London. This project was co-created with community members, mainly elders, from Jewish and Bangladeshi groups, co-facilitated a series of creative workshops, and culminated in two sculptures embodying the East End’s collective lived experiences.
