Agent Tip of the Day!

(it's been a while!)

A musical theatre song for a child must be age appropriate.
Singing a song from Wicked is not age (or voice) appropriate for any child.

Also..... be ORIGINAL and INDIVIDUAL!
As a musical director who teaches and also sits through many music festivals and performances, Naughty and Quiet are the most overdone and overrated songs for young performers! Much as I love the genius that is Tim Minchin, I would be happy to never hear those songs again!

There is a huge world out there filled with wonderful, exciting, fascinating and well written musicals and super talented composers!

If you want a career in this business, you need a repertoire. Not just the one song you sang last year for a singing exam with an uninspiring teacher who just gave you the same song that everyone else that age sang for the last 10 years!

When an agent or casting director asks for a song, you should be able to dip into your rep folder and pick something really original and interesting that suits your age and ability, and suits the role or audition!
You should also have enough songs ready that you can run off a self tape for any song in about 20 minutes.

Brogan and I are more than happy to run zoom sessions (or in person at our Academy in Hove) to teach these basic ideas, let us know!

We are so proud of India, Cooper, Dexter, Joshua, Beau, Shai, Zachary, Daisy, Anastasya and Joe, some of whom are now heading towards their third professional stage role!

As some of our clients move on we need to fill their spaces and work with new, young amazing performers!

Do you have a child aged 6 plus? We are seeking musical and capable theatre kids who would like us to work with them towards gaining future West End roles.
Both our agents are experienced musical directors, vocal coaches and theatre producers and directors.

We are keen to see applications from those who live within an hour of central London (but will consider UK wide), please apply through our website and send a recent tape of a musical theatre song. No need for any professional recording, just have fun with it or send something already recorded from the last three months. Unfortunately for theatre roles your child will need to be on the smaller side, preferably under 4'7, but we will consider those with professional credits up to 4'10.

We absolutely love it when that email comes through with a first tape request or audition. It reminds me exactly why we do this.
PTC Management was set up purely to give opportunities and experiences to actors, after the director’s own children had an entire fantastic childhood of performing and auditioning.
We are not a money making business, we are part of which is a non profit community interest company formed to give performers the best experiences and training.

The best part of my role today:
Making those phone calls to tell clients they did it!

Two of our best talent confirmed & booked on the most amazing job, which will keep them busy until early next year!

Two families crying with joy at the achievement of their child. One of whom was a 24 week preemie! ❤️❤️

To be such a small part of this means the world to me.

May 2023 and May 2024!
What a ride it’s been for Dexter over the last two years, firstly spending several months on the UK tour and then being cast in the West End production at the Sondheim Theatre! In between he managed to perform as Christopher Robin in and also took part in shows with , most recently playing the Coroner Munchkin in Wizard of Oz in Hove!

We are always so proud of Dexter and all his achievements, including a well deserved scholarship to his school based on his music and drama achievements.

Dexter you have such a bright future and we will continue to walk alongside you all the way!
