Possibly one of the most random hire cars I’ve ever been given. I said “meh” to a Fiat 500 at Lanzarote airport rental desk and got given this instead. It’s a Fiat Qubo, whatever that is. Some kind of minibus from the Middle Ages. It done 76k and must be the oldest thing in their fleet. I took it to the supermarket in Arrecife and someone found its twin and stuck it next to it. It’s now staring at me like a puppy that wants to go for a walk. You know what though? It only cost £42 for the week and is actually quite fun to drive. Feel like a local. ¡Vamos! -Matt

Lovely 40-year old Merc W123 in northern Lanzarote. You see lots of these old Mercs tooling around here. The owner of this one inherited it from his Dad. Said it drives terribly but he loves it. Also saw a light blue W114 while driving. Nearly did a u-turn to catch it! -Matt

She’s alive! Woke the old girl up from a 5-month slumber today. Plugs needed a clean but with a drink of fresh fuel, she was running great and was rewarded with a trip to the pub for lunch. Bring on summer!
