The UAE’s number 1 hit music station Virgin Radio Dubai recently received a fresh burst of branded musical energy, rhythm, and attitude from yours truly!

Building on our evolving existing themes, we created a custom set of new hip-hop and electronic infused jingles imprinted with their sonic logo that compliment the station’s playlist. 🎼

The Dubai Shopping Festival wrapped up for another year last week and we were on board soundtracking 2 immense drone shows 🌟 which flew every night for audiences across Bluewaters and The Beach, JBR. 🎶 ✨

SHOW 2 - THE FUTURE

The challenge:
To score a futuristic sounding soundtrack which accompanied the story of a space traveller as they step through a portal into the future of Dubai. A journey taking them from soaring through the Hyperloop to chasing flying drone-taxis and advanced transportation systems.

Our solution:
We created an electronic synth-based orchestral score which emphasised the storytelling in each scene as it transcended the complete narrative. Taking inspiration from the likes of Bladerunner and Inception style stories, the soundtrack captures the feeling of what’s to come and the exciting future and possibilities of life in Dubai.

🌟 ✨ MAGICAL FESTIVE HOLIDAY DRONE SHOW ✨ 🌟

This Christmas, we collaborated with our friends at Dronisos to create the musical score for an evolution in drone light show presentations. The constantly moving animation came to life in the night sky, weaving a tale of holiday magic through a spectacular show.

🎶 A Fabulously Festive Soundtrack 🎶
Our challenge was to compose a musical score that told the story of a magical snowman and his fur-tree companion embarking on an epic adventure to the North Pole to meet Santa. This called for a dynamic musical score, similar to scoring a movie or animated feature. The show needed to work for multiple languages for shows in multiple territories, blending music, spoken narration, and sound design—all while maintaining the characters’ lip sync.

🎼 Our Solution 🎼
Working closely with our arranger, we created a bespoke orchestral score that aimed to strike the perfect balance between sweetness and drama with a little bit of bite, capturing the essence of the enchanting narrative…even swapping to a jazz trio as the friends sat by the fire having a hot chocolate with Santa!

🎙 Casting Voices to Bring Characters to Life 🎙
Central to the show was the narrator. We chose seasoned voice talent who were able to tell the story as if they were reading it to their child. Narration + cute characterisation!

🌍 Where in the world 🌍
Dronisos brought this entire experience to life in the skies over Orlando, FL, USA, and the south of France during the Christmas holiday period. The result? A spellbinding fusion of technology, storytelling, and holiday spirit that audiences loved.

SHOW 1 - AN ENCHANTING FAIRYTALE

The challenge:
Charting the story of Dubai, from its pearl diving origins to the international hub it is today, we were tasked with creating a beautifully sounding story that acted as a continuous and cohesive musical narrative rather than a series of individual scenes. A soundtrack that was extensive and certainly not boring, using different movements and motifs that would help tell the story from origins to present day.

Our solution:
We composed an orchestral score to feel magical yet modern which brought to life the different characters in the sky. Much as you might approach scoring a movie, we collaborated with an arranger to create and orchestrate the music to journey through different sequences and scenes whilst bringing together melodical threads that built to a grand finale.

Sometimes referred to as the ‘Pearl Of The World’, we took cues from our narrative & visual collaborators SKY MAGIC and the talented Emirati animator Mohammed Saeed Harib. The story was shaped by the tale of the pearl diver, with each scene featuring a pearl. We composed a musical phrase that was revealed every time the pearl was featured, and wove this into the fabric of the show as the origins of the pearl driver moved from the past, to the future and a nation reaching out to space.

See both shows every night at 8pm and 10pm until 14th January - visible from both Bluewaters and The Beach, JBR. 🌌🎆

Loved being back at Dubai Shopping Festival with another 2 spectacular drone light shows now live every night with SKY MAGIC and the whole team.

It was great to stretch our creative legs with 2 custom orchestral scores and integrated sound design that helped bring the amazing stories to life in the skies.

Excited to share our recent collaboration with the team at Identity & Identity Middle East on the ‘Reaching The Last Mile Forum 2023’ at COP28 UAE 🌍

We had the incredible opportunity to create the music and sound design, as well as bringing a 360-degree immersive poetry performance to life through sound. This unique experience was scored, orchestrated, and mixed for an all-encompassing L-Acoustics 96-speaker surround setup. 🔈

Paired with stunning visuals from the brilliant minds at NorthHouse, we delivered a soundtrack centred around the urgent need to address neglected tropical diseases.

Two slam poets, representing different peoples - one from Africa and one from the UAE - took the stage to tell a powerful story through words.

Our challenge was to build a composition which would start with the storm of global challenges and neglected tropical diseases, reflect the hopeful tone of where we are today, and soar towards a positive future. 🌪 🌎 🌈

With the collaboration of global leaders at the summit, an amazing US$777 million was pledged as part of the ‘Reaching The Last Mile Forum 2023’.

Thanks to Tom Denning, Emily Bradley, Dan Colborne, Scott Marshall and the entire Identity team for a mammoth effort. We’re grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such an important cause and play our part in an immersive surround experience that really captured the mood and the message.
