As a streaming service focused on bringing international and independent cinema to the masses, it is inspiring to us at FilmDoo to see such a huge appreciation for a Korean series on a worldwide scale.

Despite the production crew shortages, it's great to see companies like Netflix, Amazon, and ScreenSkills investing in the vibrant British film scene through expansion and new training opportunities.

In particular, Netflix's Grow Creative UK initiative aims to train and upskill over 1,000 people in the film industry, particularly those from diverse backgrounds.

Diversity and inclusion are a central part of FilmDoo's vision to bring global and independent cinema to the masses, so it is encouraging to see our peers giving due consideration to those from diverse and minority backgrounds.

Just today, we came across this interesting article that mentioned how the lack of can have a negative impact on . A recent Harvard study showed that companies with above-average leadership diversity generate 19% higher revenues than those with lower-average diversity.

But is not just above putting people of different genders and backgrounds together - it is about celebrating and embracing these differences, it's about creating from these differences & disparate worldviews while ensuring effective and .

That's why we're excited to announce ! "I’ve been with FilmDoo since 2016, when I joined the small team as social media intern. I had recently graduated studying Film Studies and English Literature at University, so when they offered me a full time position, I jumped at the chance to join and work in the film industry.⁠

"Diversity is being invited to the party; inclusion is being asked to dance" Verna Myers.

Did you know that teams diverse in age and geographic location make better decisions 87% of the time?

Or that inclusive companies are 1.7 times more likely to be innovation leaders in their market?

Or that gender diverse teams make better decisions 73% of the time?

When you have a team of like-minded people with similar life experiences and reference points, certain aspects of work (such as communication) can be easier and faster.

With a diverse workforce, however, more people are able to recognise problems and implement improvements due to the wider variety of backgrounds and abilities.

In other words, companies with the highest rates of racial, ethnic, age, and gender diversity are much more likely to have financial returns above competitors in their industry (Vivian Hunt, McKinsey & Company).

Furthermore, firms that prioritise D&I attract the strongest candidates to work for them, in particular qualified talent that has previously gone unnoticed (Angela Hood, Minutes).
