Mastering is the final stage of the production process. Once your music has been recorded and mixed, it gets handed over to a mastering engineer for the final check. During this stage we’ll look at the overall sound & balance of your music, the stereo image, the dynamic range and of course, the final loudness of your track.
The goal is to create a master copy of your music that will sound as similar as possible on all speaker systems and headphones as well as being able to sound similar across all types of media platform: Streaming, digital and physical.
To get things started, simply send us an e-mail with your track. We are able to take a listen and get straight to work. During this consultation/initial listening, we will provide feedback on the mix, and in some rare cases, we may advise you to return to your mix engineer/producer to fix any issues we discover before we master your track. It’s usually best to try and resolve any issues as early on in the process as possible. Once everyone is satisfied with the mix, the mastering process begins!
If you need it quicker than this, please let us know as soon as possible. Be sure to include any reference material or any of your own masters as these can often be useful and help speed the process up, especially if you want a specific sound.
Mastering isn’t just about making your music loud, it is about preparing your track for the consumer world. Who will be listening to your music? Where will they be listening to it? At Two Zero Nine, we offer professional, industry standard advice on ways in which you can release your music. We offer help with ISRC codes, DDP/Metadata, online distribution services as well as management teams we work alongside. If you have any questions, or are unsure about the post mastering process, we are here to help you as much as we can.
