Collaborating closely with Supercell and DAVID New York at the early campaign stages, Axis Studios, led by our resident director Olly Reid and executive producer Nicole Duncan, spearheaded the creative production efforts. Our environments team reimagined Charles Dickens’ world of A Christmas Carol for our feature film: Scrooge: A Christmas Carol, adding stylised flair and a vibrant, psychedelic spin to the familiar settings of the well-known story. From initial look-development to final render, the backdrops and landscapes our heroes travel through are full of intricate detail and wonder. The narrative structure of exploring past, present, and future realities offered a rich playground for our environments team to create in- be it visualising interstellar clouds to harsh, icy graveyards. #ICYMI Our work with Seascape on the second trailer for Blocklords, Slay the Bear, predominantly focused on creature creation. The trailer depicts an epic battle between a ferocious bear and a mighty moose. The Axis teams collaborated across departments throughout the creation process to ensure the creatures' realistically detailed features and movements were accurately brought to life in this all-new medieval setting, whilst still capturing the essence and tone of the Blocklords universe. 2023 is done! Another one in the bag. In fact, it is the end of our twenty-third year in existence, hard to believe. Working closely with our clients, partners, and co-producers we’ve crafted great ideas and great stories for audiences, players, and guests. By our estimate, our work has been seen over 181M times on screens of all types, thrilling audiences with laughter and fear in equal measure. Tears and laughter were both in evidence with our first project of 2023. January saw the release of the charming and thought-provoking A Man Called Otto in cinemas. The film was crammed full of 250 seamless visual effects shots from our VFX team. Spring saw the release of our trailers for some of the most well-known properties in gaming - Halo Infinite, Warframe: Duviri Paradox, Destiny 2, and Magic: The Gathering. Summer saw a shift in tone as we released trailers for the delightful game Palia, and our first of three projects for Supercell, Clash Royale. The year's second half saw more feature film and television VFX work when Expendables landed in cinemas and Vigil hit our screens at home. This was followed by more video game trailers for Clash of Clans, New World: Rise of the Angry Earth and Blocklords. We have ended the year with the completion of several new projects, which we can’t wait to share with you in January! I can’t finish this message off without mentioning the challenges the entertainment industry has faced this year, it has not been easy for many people. We are blessed to be doing what we love, that is what keeps us inspired even when times are tough. A massive thanks must go to all of our staff, clients, partners, and co-producers.
