Harper's Jar is a band located out of Minneapolis Minnesota.
With Devin doing vocals and guitar, Kyle on drums, and Alex on the bass, City Pages Minneapolis listed 'Thank You Ancestor Finger' as one of the top local albums to be released during Covid19.

Today we would like to talk about Dirt Royal

Dirt Royal is a "three piece Rock and Roll band from Brighton" that has been playing together since 2013. They've consistently been a part of the Brighton music scene ever since!

We certainly love their song 'Lose Our Way' and hope that you will too! Listen to it here:https://open.spotify.com/album/4PuGPFvYj1fcdmxwlJ2V9G?highlight=spotify:track:1bCqZECzyCSjuKakvHE57P

Get out your glitter, because here comes Nashville's Glam Rock Band The Blam Blams!

Members of the Band:
Bradley Owens (lead vocals, piano)
Christian Northover (drums)
David Estes (guitar, producer)
Robert Stewart (bass)

As Bradley Owens says about their mission, “we want to give everyone an excuse to celebrate what makes them different. Our shows are a liminal space where anyone can be wholly, unashamedly, and radically themself.”

We're here, we're q***r, let's sing about it (okay maybe not about it, but you get our point):https://open.spotify.com/album/4ejXIS5mTeFDCwfcjImPGS?highlight=spotify:track:2sZhmWeCT8G6BQzkmyU6C9

If you have a musician that you think others might want to hear, let us know and we might just oblige! (Unless it's that same song that everyone's already heard a thousand times. You know which one.)

During this time of the year things get difficult. Because of this we would like to introduce 'A Different Thread'.

We would especially like to bring the spotlight to their song 'Rosa Rosa'. It's a song that ties into su***de awareness. Taken from their debut album 'On A Whim', bandmate Alicia wrote the song to send out the message that 'someone's always listening'.

If you ever are feeling in distress and need someone to talk to and are in Scotland, call 116 123 to talk to a staff of Samaritans (https://www.samaritans.org/scotland/how-we-can-help/contact-samaritan/)

American/English duo 'A Different Thread' delivers a compelling, authentic sound that embraces 70’s folk revival, country, and blues.

The transatlantic couple met while busking in Ireland and have been on the road ever since. Pulling from their respective roots, their blend of intimate, raw vocals with atmospheric instrumentation is reminiscent of Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings, The Mamas and the Papas, and Mandolin Orange.

It's never too late in the night to give a shoutout to a great band! Meet Trampoline, an anti-rock enterprise founded in 2014 in Winnipeg, Canada!

"The musical arrangements are cinematic and percussive, blending styles of punk, indie rock, and prog, with a touch of folk and 90s rock nostalgia. Charged by the whims of satire, playfulness, and deeply heartfelt emotion, Trampoline explores the highs and lows of the human experience while making you bounce through it all"

The Band Includes:

Michelle Lecnik; vocalist and guitarist
Steve Martens; drums and vocals
Joey Penner; bass and vocals

Our personal favorite is Emily's Tea Party:https://open.spotify.com/track/6lg0LbusSUOx3UrOGd3ZiW?si=GyNRCs_TSpGLkqNbvRneCw

Suggestions (as always) are welcome, and we will be adding links to artists' pages as we add them!

Duo.Hansen this violinist and cellist duo also have an excellent version of "Nightmare Before Christmas" on youtube that is very good!

Escape Elliott is a Belgian Rock band that combines "p***y melodies with conjuring guitar effects and even hints of ska and reggae."

Emilie Thorsby is a singer-songwriter who has some great singles on her own Spotify. We suggest checking her out!

Lady Starbeast was mentioned in an earlier post yesterday, but they made the list again in honor of Halloween. A married duo from Austin, Texas, these two specialize in dark alt-pop!

Melodicka Bros they also have a most excellent (Excessively Happy!) Cover of Nightmare Before Christmas. Self-described as "weird music for weird people"

PelleK is known for his power metal. A "Norwegian Rock/Metal" singer, his covers often delight-especially his "What's Up?"

Some of you may have noticed we have been more active on social media again. As we are gearing up to be back on air, we plan on getting everyone pumped for new shows, new (virtual) events, and new innovative ways of broadcasting information to you!

We will be posting introductions to our committee members throughout the next few weeks, but we wanted to start with one of the people behind your screen.

Meet Jaz Kelm, our co-head of communications and marketing.

Jaz did her undergrad at the University of Minnesota, Duluth (you betcha!) as a major in history. Past affiliations include UMD's History Club, ASL club, partook in LGBTQ activism, was a chairman of the Osseo Heritage Preservation Commission, and an intern at Galicia Jewish Museum.

Currently, she is a grad student here at Strathclyde in the library and information science department and is involved with the International Student Union and is happy to be a part of the SFR team!

Some of her likes include raccoons, dinosaurs, vine, soil samples, and doing stand up comedy. Her dislikes include frogs touching her collar bones.

Jaz encourages everyone to be active on the page and let us know what you want to hear. She also would like your best book, vine, and local attraction suggestions!

We are looking at celebrating International Women's Day here at Strathclyde Fusion Radio! We know...it's a way out there still, but let us know what you think.
Are there any musicians or female radio hosts that you'd like to hear on that day or even work of your own you'd like broadcasted? What do you think is important to be included?

More details to come as it unfolds. As always, it is an excitement to be a voice for the students of Strathclyde, the city of Glasgow, Scotland, and internationally.

Today we want to highlight some lesser-known (but still amazing) talent! Share covers of songs or original work of your own in the comments. This is your chance to use Fusion Radio as a platform for your talent🎸🎼🎤🎧🎹 🤟
