Enjoy the office? Or parks and rec? Come by TOMORROW to The Chanter get involved in EUTV’s own mockumetary project (a satirical documentary about us!) this semester. You can get involved in writing, acting, producing, camera work, etc
It’s the perfect way to get involved in EUTV if you’re not sure how!

Each year, EUTV takes on an unspecified numbers of producers to make content. What the content is is up to yourselves and it is the Committee's responsibility to guide you through the production process and help you guys out, especially when you're just getting started in the role. The aim is to pass down production skills to - and cultivate the confidence in - a new cohort of members.

The benefits for yourselves is the potential to win awards for the content you make (RTS Scotland, NASTA etc), anytime access to equipment with membership, and to have a formal title/job description for CVs/LinkedIn to demonstrate interest & experience in television/content creation. Alumni have gone on to work at media companies such as the BBC or have freelance positions!

Meeting any interested students and showing them our filming and editing equipment. Then, sending them off in groups to interview and record footage. Once this has finished, get them all back in to edit and go over what they have recorded. An attempt to make their own tv programme in an hour! Meeting Point: Pleasance Cafe.

You can now watch the final part of EUTV’s series investigating the student housing crisis!

In this episode, we hear from different groups about how the system that led to the housing crisis could be changed. We speak to a representative from the tenant’s union Living Rent. We also speak to students living in the Edinburgh Student Housing Co-operative. You can find out more about both groups on their pages.

The second part in EUTV’s series investigating the student housing crisis is out now!

In this episode, we hear from decision makers and elected representatives about their perspective on the housing crisis.

We speak to Pauline Flannery, a local Edinburgh city council representative; Professor Colm Harmon who oversees student experience at the University of Edinburgh and is a member of the University’s senior leadership team. We also spoke to Isi who is Vice President of Community and is an elected member of the Edinburgh University Student Association (EUSA). In this episode, we hear different students about their experiences trying to find accommodation for the 2022/23 academic year. We also spoke to members of the student society Slurp Edinburgh about their campaign to find out how many students have been impacted by the housing crisis in Edinburgh.

The first part of our docuseries investigating the student housing crisis is out tomorrow!

A massive thanks as well to all of the fantastic EUTV members who got involved in this project! It’s been amazing to have so many people volunteering to help make this series alongside studying full time.

We’re excited to announce our three part documentary series investigating the student housing crisis.

Episode 1 is out on Monday the 28th of November and focuses on student stories. We also spoke to Slurp about their survey which investigates the magnitude of the student housing crisis and asks students for their experiences.

Episode 2 is out on Thursday the 1st of December. We hear responses from representatives for the Edinburgh City Council, the University of Edinburgh and EUSA about the housing crisis and plans they have to tackle the problem.

Episode 3 is out on Sunday the 4th of December. We hear from groups that are proposing a move towards a fairer housing system. We talk to the tenants union Living Rent and the Student Housing Co-operative.
