F**k it, first week in new studio photo dump ‼️

What a flipping brilliant first week from our new gaff in 💖 the radio is sounding better than ever (if we may say so ourselves) and we get the added bonus of waving to you lovely lot through the window!

The support we’ve had from everyone on this new venture has been absolutely staggering and very hard to put into words, but we wanna say thank you thank you thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Long live community radio ✨

In case you missed it, we launched a cafe/studio space this week in Leith! Ground Floor is located on Great Junction Street and you can pop in now for the best coffee in town (100% guaranteed!!!) and exclusive topped focaccia from the G’s at 💖🥪

The radio kicks off from 1st August but the cafe is open now for sit in and takeaway. All profits from the cafe go towards fuelling community radio, so it’s kiiiiiinda a win-win?? We think so.

Ok big big announcement time ✨

Almost six years to the day since our first broadcast, we’re excited to announce that we will be moving to Leith!

For the last few months the team have been hard at work building , a new cafe and radio studio on Great Junction Street situated above , and 💖

The cafe is open now selling specialty coffee, snacks and an exclusive topped focaccia from our pals . All profits from the cafe go towards funding our community radio station, and we will begin broadcasting from our Leith studio on Thu 1 Aug.

There are so many people to thank, but we want to give a special shout out to .mrtnstudio who created the Ground Floor logo and who helped make everything generally look incredibly beautiful.

This is a pretty huge step for us and we’re super excited for the future. Please give a follow and if you are in Leith please pop by for a coffee and a bite to eat, we can’t wait to say hi to you all!

At midday today we’re delighted to be airing an exclusive in-house podcast series about Edinburgh’s nightlife history, presented and produced by the brilliant - tune in for all afternoon to hear all four episodes and some curated archive selections that compliment the podcast.

Edinburgh: A Dance Music History was created with the aim to celebrate some of the city’s untold stories and sounds, the podcast documents the important moments, communities, and tracks that have shaped the city’s dance music cultures.

Across the four episodes, Crerar uses Edinburgh’s existing and former venues as a lens through which to tell the changing story of the city’s nightlife sector. Throughout the series, they speak to JD Twitch about his seminal 90s club night Pure at The Venue; they shine a light on city institution The Bongo Club, which has been a pillar for soundsystem culture for decades; they examine the role Edinburgh College of Art has had on the city’s nightlife through college venue The Wee Red Bar; and they look at Edinburgh’s new generation of torchbearers putting on nights at celebrated small club Sneaky Pete’s.

To celebrate the launch of our exclusive podcast Edinburgh: A Dance Music History, we’re hosting two absolute local OGs to the Sneaky’s sweatbox for our June party.

We’re delighted to have pioneering k**b twiddler and techno extraordinaire Neil Landstrumm perform alongside good friend, EHFM day-oner and Wee Red Bar head honcho Snide Rhythms. Both have been absolutely instrumental in the nightlife scene of the city for decades now, and we’re stoked to see them do a demolition job on Sneaky’s!

Well, there’s no easy way to say this but the very last LUNCH will be served this Thursday at midday 💔

What can we say about this show? LUNCH has been with us since the second day of broadcasting and every week for the last (almost) six years.

It’s also presented by one of the best people we’ve all had the pleasure of getting to know over the course of the show. Nikki is so special, she brings such an infectious energy to the studio every week and an approach to LUNCH that makes radio feel a ✨practice ✨rather than a mere hobby. It would be an understatement to say she will be missed - we’re all absolutely gutted.

What were most proud of though is how we’ve seen Nikki take a two hour slot every Thursday and turn it into a living breathing thing. LUNCH has become a staple in the schedule with its own loyal following, it’s generated its own FAN ART(!) and during lockdown it was a stable source of solace for music lovers across the world. For us, LUNCH is testament to what can happen if you trust people and give them the space to run with an idea.

There are frankly far too many episodes of LUNCH we could recommend you, but Nikki has picked out her five favourite that you can now listen back to on the EHFM homepage. AND perhaps most excitingly, Nikki will ride one last time on Thursday LIVE from Alby’s in Leith. Tune in or pop down to celebrate this triumph of a show one last time.

Edinburgh: A Dance Music History is an exclusive podcast for EHFM, presented by Rowan Crerar ( ). The podcast documents the important moments, communities, and tracks that have shaped the city’s dance music cultures through extensive interviews and storytelling.

We’ll be broadcasting the series in full on Fri 31 May at midday alongside some special archive recordings, and they’ll be able to listen back exclusively on our Soundcloud page.

This Saturday! We have Hu-Sane, Amber Leith & eskwire joining our Sneaky Pete’s party 🎉

Hu-Sane will be bringing her multi-genre, controlled chaos mode approach to the booth, effortlessly weaving together UKG, jungle and bass with influences from South Asia and the Middle East. Find her on Radio Buena vida and Newcastle’s Slack radio!

Heating things up will be Amber Leith and eskwire bringing an unpredictable selection of everything from post punk to garage. The pair are no strangers to Sneaky Pete’s, however this will be Amber Leith’s long overdue debut DJ set in the venue!

We found a home for our first ever broadcast from Hidden Door’s 2018 party at , so we are delighted to be programming Hidden Door’s second night of birthday celebrations on Saturday 11th of May! We’re so pleased to be hosting Hu-Sane at our next Sneaky Pete’s party, on Saturday 6th of April, alongside Amber Leith b2b eskwire on support🦋

🦋Turning heads with the self release of her track ‘Bridge Street’ last summer, Hu-Sane has continued carving out her unique sound which marries her Pakistani heritage with UKG and deep bass influences. Her guest mix on EHFM was one of our favourites from 2023, with rapid fire mixing across high energy tracks and unexpected samples to create edits on the fly.

🦋 We absolutely had to invite long time EHFM residents Amber Leith and eskwire after their crossover shows went down an absolute chaotic treat. The pair will be up to their shenanigans, heating things up in the club.

Just a wee selection of the brilliant presenters we had in the studio on Friday for our inaugural Open Decks. The whole day was a delight, and all 24 half-hour shows are now ready to listen back to - from polyphonic vocal choirs, to female fronted metal!

A huge huge thank you to everyone who came through on the day to do their show. It was so nice to see how quickly everyone got into it after being initially nervous, every slot was presented fantastically and executed with such consideration. We loved to see it!

We’ll definitely be doing more of these so keep an eye out for our next open decks 💖

Big weekend for us! While our inaugural International Women’s Day open decks is broadcasting right now(!!) we’re also limbering up for a day of experimental radio tomorrow as Works In Progress makes it’s way to the airwaves.

After sifting through all your submissions, the WIP crew have picked their faves and they’ll be playing them from 11-4 tomorrow, hosted by maniatrix, ogmog, Disc Joscelyne, Fred and Sacred Keys.

THEN join them in person at Embassy Gallery for an evening of live experimental performances and DJing.

Play what you want, all the time. Anyone can do it! That’s what we’re all about, so we’re dead happy to be hosting this lovely group of musical misfits 🥲
