but before we all lose ourselves to the music, we thought we'd tell you a little more about the organisation we will be donating any profits to.

Spit It Out believe in the provision of education, open discussion and support on subjects that are often portrayed as taboo or underrepresented in mainstream media. In discussing them openly and sensitively, they aim to not only educate, but to provide outlets for communities often overlooked, marginalised or not regularly given a platform to creatively explore how said topics have affected them.

The opportunity to creatively express yourself openly and without stigma is something that matters greatly to the entire Scenes team, so we're super excited to help out the project in any way we can ✨

And just like that….

Scenes in The City has come to an end (for now anyway) 🥺

Thank you to everyone who has tuned in and supported us over the past few months, to and for this unreal opportunity and to all the absolutely amazing artists making exceptional music in our city and ensuring we never ran out of tunes.

The response to this show has been insane and we hope you’ve enjoyed listening to us obsess over the past, present and future of Edinburgh’s best talents. It’s been a proper joy! As a parting gift, we leave you with our last three tracklists🤠

If you need one final fix, there’s still time to pick up a ticket (link in bio) to our gig on Monday at Sneaky Pete’s - we recommend you get in there quick though as over half the tickets are already gone✨

Here’s who’ll be joining us on our final show! (😭🥺)

This Friday at 11am Faye, Omo, and Rowan will able be sharing their favourite, genre re-defining sounds being made around Scotland! Expect the unexpected and get ready to free yourself from the musical confines of genre. We’ll be playing tunes by MEMES, Jayda, Bikini Body, Jamalco, and speaking to the musical minds behind Miss World! Iced Gem, Feena, and Aphid break down the significance that being genre fluid in DJ sets can create, and why Miss World nights have always been unbeatable in their musical variation!

This is our last show, and it’s gonna be jam packed with the best tunes around! We can’t wait to see you in the chat room!

SIX DAYS UNTIL OUR CHARITY GIG WITH AND ! Let’s get to know a bit more about who’s performing!

Grace and The Flat Boys are a multi genre group bringing refreshing new sounds to the Edinburgh scene! We featured some of their music on our Jazz episode, and although the band themselves don’t particularly identify as jazz musicians, you can clearly hear the influence that the rocky sides of the sound has had on their music. Lately the group have been making a name for themselves thanks to their energetic and captivating live performances - we can’t wait for you to get involved and let lose when they play!

Edz is a young star of the Edinburgh rap scene, gaining a reputation for his smooth productions, flawless lyricism, and hybrid beats. We were blown away by his tunes when Omo played them on our Rap episode, and really think he will be one to watch over the next few years!

Swiss Portrait have been a team favourite from early on, and this was solidified when Faye caught their performance at Stag and Dagger! Weaving between synth influences and bedroom pop textures, Swiss Portrait have an incredible ability to transport you into their own magic world full of gorgeous tones and catchy melodies.

You’ll be able to catch all three performing at Sneaky Pete’s next Monday, tickets are flying out the door so don’t wait around on this one pals!

Catch us live from the studio this Friday bringing you an episode packed full of super fresh tunes! 🍋

We’re starting 2022 as we mean to go on, with loads of original, forward thinking music, and digging deep into the context of these sounds. Rowan will be chatting to the legendary JD Twitch, who shaped Scotland’s clubbing scene in its early days as well as finding out what it’s like making music in Edinburgh today in an interview with Smiff. We’ll also be sharing a fiery mix with you, taking us from 90s re-releases through to emotive and introspective takes on electronic sounds which challenge the perceptions of the city’s audio culture. We promise it’s not all pounding bass and monotonous drums, it’s dance music to get you feeling refreshed just in time for the first (actual) weekend of the year. Featuring tonnes of new music from Smiff, Ona:v, J Wax, Dansa, Pelk, LWS, Ruisu, Feena, Proc Fiskal and more 💫

Join us on EHFM at 11am on Friday, and get those shout-out requests ready!

Feeling alive in Episode 5! 🥳

This Friday, Rowan gets to know the ideas and feelings motivating the Scottish Jazz scene, considering where local musicians position themselves within traditional definitions of jazz and looking how young, Scottish artists are re-interpreting the sound.

Rowan will be talking to DJ, producer, and radio host Rebecca Vasmant of Rebecca's Records, and will invite Edinburgh band Eloi in for a guest mix featuring their jazz influences.

See you Friday 🎷

Our first show is on Friday and we can’t wait to share an hour of tunes from local artists with you! To get you all warmed up we thought we’d shine a light on what kind of thing you can expect to hear 🤩

We’ll be joined live in the studio by writer, poet, activist, and spoken word artist Bee Asha! When Bee isn’t on stage performing her poems or rapping with female rap collective The Honey Farm, you’ll find her using the power of words to empower women through her work with Spit It Out. We’ll be chatting to Bee Asha about her mixtape “From Girl to Men”, where she finds inspiration, and the impact that writing and spoken word can have on wellbeing.

We’re also super excited to share some Spoken Word pieces from Courtney Stoddart. Courtney uses writing and performance as a tool to dismantle structures of oppression, using her voice to inspire resistance, education, and healing.

Throughout the show we’ll be playing some of our favourite instrumental sounds from Edinburgh based musicians! We’re especially excited for you to hear the experimental sounds of ‘Singing To The Seaweed’, a four track release which seeks to create a soundscape for an ever changing coastline through improvisation, vocal experiments, and field recordings.

We’ll also be playing some tunes from Skye Scrambles’ recent album, ‘Moors of Sutherland’, which references the natural landscapes and spellbinding forms of the highlands through gentle synth melodies and peaceful stillness.

Tune in at 11am on Friday, we’ll catch you in the chatroom 🌟
