Just having a sort out and came across a tonne of old promo CDs. Kind of sobering that about 99% of the acts never got anywhere. It’s a tough business, and much of what people do to promote new music mostly goes unnoticed 😕

I’ve decided it’s time to put the show out of its misery. Things have changed massively since I started and the growth in streaming and new social media means that people, both listeners and artists, just don’t seem interested in radio anymore, certainly not a community radio show in Doncaster anyway. I’ve had a great time doing this, and I’m really grateful to the small band of loyal listeners and friends who have supported me and the even smaller group of artists who took their time to simply say “thank you” when I plugged their music. Sadly, the amount of effort going into producing the show simply didn’t get the return and I think my time (and money) could be put to better use.

Don’t meet your idols kids, most of them are arseholes anyway!

Nothing to do today? Why not go out and support your local traders on Record Store Day. The Second 45 and Crash Records are just a couple of my favourites, but if you can’t get to either Llanelli or Leeds I’m sure there are stores that are just as good in your home region. Why not support local business instead of the online corporate monsters and soulless streaming giants that are helping to turn our towns into ghost towns!
