Rush hour, London Bridge, 1960’s
During the 1960s, London Bridge was a focal point for the daily rush hour, bustling with commuters making their way to and from the City of London, the capital's financial district. The bridge would be packed with a mix of pedestrians, cyclists, cars, and iconic red double-decker buses.
This scene vividly illustrated the economic boom and rapid urbanization of post-war London. The bridge itself, the 1831 version designed by John Rennie, was heavily used until it was replaced by the current bridge in 1973.
The intense activity on London Bridge during rush hour exemplified the vibrant and dynamic nature of London life in the 1960s.
