🤔Have you created a group chat on Instagram yet?

Group chats can be great for lots of reasons…

I don’t have a Facebook group so I used the Insta Group Chat facility as a follow up to a workshop I ran recently. I set up a group chat to act as an accountability mechanism, as well as giving each other support.

💬Groups chats can work for networking opportunities, knowledge sharing, creating a support system, resource pooling and even for promotional opportunities.

Let’s not spend too much time worrying about hashtags … they are definitely not as important as they once were, in fact some people don’t bother using them at all (these are already large accounts)

Hashtags help more of people to find your content and so give your content greater reach.

Other things that help your reach are
- using reels
- using trending audio
- using keywords in your text
- optimizing your bio for search

As Instagram continues to evolve and now with testing the restriction of the number of hashtags you can use, we need to make sure that the hashtags you do decide to use are well researched. Quality over quantity.

There isn’t one size fits all…

But when it comes to balancing working in your business with working on the marketing of your business, organization and time are critical.

Batch creating content is a time efficient and focused way to create your social media content, and it doesn’t have to take forever when you learn how.

Something I have been thinking about is creating …. or maintaining good habits in 2024

Habit stacking is something that I have been repeatedly hearing about throughout the year and it’s something that makes perfect sense. (In fact most recent podcast episode mentions this too - great journally tips too👌🏻)

Attach a new habit to an established one and this will make it much easier to implement and stick to the new habit!

I thought of a how you could attach a few good insta habits to some everyday habits … what do you think of them?

What will make content creation easier?

This is a question I am often asked … and what bits of kit couldn’t I do without?

So here are three items I recommend, the light ring can be particularly handy with the lack of light going in to winter.

My tip to make content creation easier that isn’t something you can buy is to always take portrait photos and video and if you have ‘cinematic’ mode on your camera def use that!

Doing what I do, I have to continually invest in my personal training and support, otherwise with all the updates and changes, my knowledge would be outdated in no time! 🥱

I didn’t know whether to share this …

…. but social media hasn’t been good for my mental health at times, and that’s been a massive challenge as it’s fundamental to my work🥱

❓Where’s the best place to put your CALL TO ACTION?

There is no ONE right answer to this ….

Depending on your type of post, and the topic, it will vary.

So I thought I would share a few examples of CTA’s in action, in a number of different places.

E.g. at the beginning of posts, at the end, in your image or video or just in your caption.

The MUST HAVE CTA is in your Bio - you want to guide your audience to do what you want them to do straight away …. usually to click one of your links for more info - driving traffic to your website, blog, landing page.

👋🏻Hello fellow business owner. Can I ask you, when do find time to work ON your business rather than IN it?

Ahmm I should rephrase that I have to MAKE time as I definitely don’t find it easy to find the time!

So this week I did something that hopefully my business will thank me for at some point AND I got to experience the beautiful .hall that I had wanted to go to for ages!!

I went along to an evening of networking 😬 I didn’t know ANYONE! Walking into a room full of strangers was a real challenge … but I did it and you know what? I am so thankful that I did - it was full of warm, friendly fellow business owners who were a real pleasure to meet!

👋🏻Hello hello!
It’s been AN AGE since I last introduced myself and I have had some wonderful new followers join me lately.

So I’m Hannah, a mum of two teenagers and a Golden Doodle called Nala.

I used to be in Advertising but set up and run HanSocial 5 years ago. My start to the business was slow as I had to move my mum to be near me and then I was her key carer until she left us in September 2019.

Just a few months later in March 2020 we all know what happened … we went into lock down. I took on a part time digital marketing consultancy role during that period which made me realise even more how much I enjoy Instagram training rather than the management of social media.

I work with business owners and their teams, who want to find out how to promote their services using Instagram. Giving them tips and tricks to save time and make it all more fun and enjoyable all the while getting the business results they are aiming for.

When I am not working there are a few things I love to do ….
- Cooking so many things from Ottolenghi or Deliciously Ella
- Heading down to the beach for some sea air
- Walking the dog, followed by a cheeky drink in a wonderful nearby pub
- Or wine tasting at one of the many incredible English vineyards we are lucky enough to be surrounded by.

Well this was a lovely surprise.

Aleks was a student at the creative school that I used to run in Brixton. I left when I moved to Kent as commuting to Brixton from deepest Kent wasn’t sustainable.

What struck me was her use of the word ‘connector’ this is something that people used to always say about me. I really do love connecting people and connecting the dots between ideas.

Connection is something I missed and lost in lock down, I also lost my confidence. This is one of the reasons for starting up my co-working sessions again.

💥Co-working starts in the 19th April after Easter - it will be an opportunity for like minded business owners to meet, connect, support one another and to collaborate - what’s not to like about that😁

CTA’s part two: 🌿This tip will help you to gain more engagement.

Consider what it is you would like your audience to do having read your caption.

An action that will be super easy and natural for them to do, and then simply ask them to do it.

If your content is a helpful list, then it would be natural to prompt them to SAVE it, but if you are discussing options and want to gain their input, it would be natural to ask for them to let you know their thoughts and to leave a comment.

They are quite some stats!

Obviously not all Reels should have text - this will depend on lots of factors.

But with 71% more views and 57% more comments it’s definitely working out whether your reel should be using text to communicate with your audience and not leaving it all for the caption.

Here are two small things you can do to make sure your Instagram is ready to hit the ground running in the new year. - look at who you are following. Do you want unfollow or mute any of them? Look at the people least interacted with, do you need to Re engage with them? - Go through all your saved items and have a spring clean. Create folders, delete those that are no longer relevant, reignite those thoughts that were there when you saved them in the first place. You never know there might be a range of great content ideas in there. STOP what you are doing! Using 30 hashtags will confuse the algorithm - its official. I spoke about doing a trial on using only 5 well researched hashtags a couple of weeks ago - hmm I didn’t really stick to doing that ... old habits and all that! BUT according to @thelucasokeefe who actually spoke with @instagram we need to be changing up our hashtag habits.
