If you saw our last post you’ll know we are doing some fundraisers this term for our student magazine!

Join us for a morning of community, fitness, and fundraising at the La Civetta FUN RUN! 🏃‍♀️

Lace up your running shoes and mark your calendars for the 3rd of March, @ 10am 🕙

Whether you’re an experienced runner, a casual jogger, or just looking to support the magazine, everyone is welcome to participate. The more the merrier 😊

Meet at the Downs Water Tower at 10 AM, entry is £2 per person, cash only. After the run our team will be around to grab a coffee and chat whether in English or Italian.

For this terms edition we will be hosting some fundraisers for our student a magazine! 🤩

It has been 10 years since the La Civetta was founded and we couldn’t be prouder. As a team, we have enjoyed creating new editions every term and to continue to keep up this great work and continue to excel as an independent digital magazine we are asking for your support to grow our community and share our passion for Italy! ♥️

There will be a variety of fundraising events in the next few weeks which we are excited about! To keep a look out for upcoming posts. 📱

BUON CARNEVALE! 🎭

Carnival in Italy is a farewell party to eat, drink and have fun before lent. Many Italians celebrate over many weekends with parades, masks and confetti, gathering family and friends and dressing up!

There are many variations of the tradition throughout Italy but here are three of the most unique and popular ones! If you ever have the opportunity to visit during this time, it is an amazing experience 😁

• Venezia: 🚣‍♂️ famous for its elaborate costumes and masks, with over 3 million visitors annually

• Viareggio: 🤡 neighbourhood parties, concerts, performances and gigantic floats!

• Ivrea: 🍊 known for its tradition of throwing oranges or ‘battle of the oranges’, a silent march and horse and carriage

This weeks VOCABULARY WORD BANK: Sanremo 2024. 🎤 🎭

‘Il Festival di Sanremo 2024’ was the 74th edition of the annual Sanremo music festival. It is a television song contest held at the Teatro Ariston of Sanremo, organised by Italy’s leading broadcaster RAI.

The annual song contest is one of Italys most watched and loved events of the year! 💗 Throughout the years, Sanremo has reflected the evolution of Italian society and music and it has certainly launched the careers of Italy’s most successful artists! 🇮🇹

Paola Egonu is an Italian professional volleyball player who started competing from the age of 15! She has received racist comments throughout her career but thrives to push an ideological change in the sporting world and within Italian society! She is a talented athlete who is a role model for the future of volleyball🏐
