It’s not been an ideal start to the Liam Manning era.
How would you sum it up so far?
Warm those bellies up and bring a hat.
Let’s smash them lot today.

Pearson sacked…wow. Don’t think I’ve seen a club decision be this poorly received, ever.
Thoughts?
Cardiff away, on a Saturday at 3pm.

Amazing! ❤️👏🏻
As football stadiums increasingly merge into one, it is now often in the spaces and places around a ground where you will best find the real culture, character and story of a football club on display. El Rincon Bristol, situated on a lonely stretch of North Street, is case in point.
Scatterings of Bristol City art shares wall space with paella pans, violins and portraits of Spain. It is an independent bar personified, unique both inside and outside of Bristol City culture. We visited owner David Wilson one sunny afternoon in the ‘Tapas Tardis’ to discuss his beloved nook and an unlikely but meaningful relationship with the City fanbase.
"There quickly began to be a loyalty. I realised that people were very warming and welcoming and respectful. A lot of people spoke about their love for Spain, the culture, the sun and its whole ambience which appealed to them. So they immediately took El Rincón under their wing and decided this was going to be a venue. I was given an El Rincon flag that started to go around the world with supporters, to England games and visiting lots of different places. I even start to get emotional about that side of it, because I do know that football has got a bit of a reputation and that there’s people you might actually give a wide berth to if you didn’t know them, but actually I’ve found out, I’m in a lucky enough position to know that these people are family.
What’s nice about here is that every day is different, every day the chairs and tables are in a different position, you listen to what issues people have, what they want to share with you and what stories they bring in and vice versa. I’ve always thought it’s very important to have these sorts of spaces around, the social side of El Rincón is amazing. It is increasingly more and more difficult to keep one of these independent places going but this is truly an independent bar that has got so much passion behind it.
I will always take my hat off to the loyal supporters here for being so persistent and passionate. Every time that game finishes, people will come in here with their emotions on display, good or bad. It’s a real, genuine, honest group of people who I’ve been genuinely honoured to have here."
Interview and photos by Fred Dodgson.
Yep.
One of the most impactful social media presences in Bristol, 26 year old Oscar Bostock is now known by many as the face of the city’s food.
Highly energetic, his ‘BosFinesse’ persona unveils and exposes hidden gems from all corners of the city.
We talked to him for Issue Three:
“A lot of people don’t know what they’re doing in this game, they don’t know what real food is. But I really love what I do, there’s not a lot of times where I’ll be somewhere and not think I can be making content. It’ll be on my mind the whole time. I literally live, breathe, sleep this whole thing.
I’ve really found my ultimate passion at 26, I feel truly blessed.
People can be scared to go from their pockets of Bristol to those that are on a completely different end of the spectrum in terms of community.
There’re underlying factors, they’re not used to the diversity and culture and they’re not ready to explore.
That really does boil my p**s in Bristol but that’s why I’m here... to show it’s alright!
I feel as if you can walk into any restaurant here, get on with your thing, enjoy your food and walk home fine. As long as you’re not any trouble yourself you won’t find any trouble. Stapleton Road, North Street, mate, it doesn’t matter, eat wherever, discover something new!
There’s high concentration of top quality restaurants, you don’t need to drive an hour and a half or spend ages on the tube to get to places. That’s how we can really get it cracking here. Bristol’s the biggest village!
We’ve dusted off the mics to review the season thus far.

A decade on from our most iconic goal against the gas?
Massengo in the Premier League, good for him. He'll smash it at Burnley.
We'll miss his cheeky smile, awesome photos and outrageous style. As well as everything on the pitch of course.
He sent us this farewell message, it's beautiful...
To the Bristol City fans,
When I look back, almost four years ago, I came to Bristol a bit scared. I left my home country not knowing what to expect. My knowledge of Bristol wasn't great and didn’t know much about Bristol City as a club. I had a conversation with the manager, Lee Johnson. and he convinced me of joining the project. I've always appreciated aspirations and dreams. It matched my mindset. It was a big step, and I was convinced I was doing the right thing. I knew that I was in good hands and that coming to Bristol City to play in the Championship would help me develop, as a player of course but also as a human being.
I had a lot of questions before joining the club but all of those vanished, almost immediately. As soon as I played my first game and felt the atmosphere that you created, all that energy and support. It was special. Truly unique.
Before I knew it, you had given me a song. Hearing you cheer the team and sing my name. I knew I was in the right place. Being able to have a career in football is a real privilege but on a human and personal level, there's nothing that compares to having support from those you're playing for. That song didn't just make me feel welcome, it made me feel at home. It made my family know their son, their brother, their nephew, their cousin was in safe hands with serious support. I've only ever wanted to return the favour with my passion for the club.
I’ve had wonderful times at City. I also had some tougher moments but that’s just how the life of a professional football player is supposed to be. A lot of things happened during my 3 and a half years playing for City. Changes of manager, change of CEO, but the fans always stuck with us and that’s why I was always proud to put on that shirt and gave everything I could. I hope you were able to see that no matter what the circumstances, I gave every ounce of energy I could whenever I was wearing that shirt. From the training pitch to Ashton Gate, I am proud to be connected to your club.
I've made the very most of my time and tried everything to contribute as best as I can to the growth of that football club. I’m convinced that the club is going in the right direction.
It’s the end of a chapter for me. A chapter that didn’t end the way I wanted it to end but that I will remember as the most important one of my footballing career because Bristol City changed me. Not only as a player but also as a person.
Take you for the love and thank you for the memories. I wish you guys the best.
