Important update Eclipse Music Digital!
New pricing options effective immediately!
--
Effective immediately, we are applying new pricing policies for all digital releases via Eclipse Music Digital.
For now on singles and EPs (up to 3 tracks) will have an upfront processing fee of 1,99€ and albums (4-25 tracks) are priced at 2,99€.
The reason for these, admittedly abrupt, changes are recent and quickly evolving changes in the music business. The biggest of which is the rapid expansion of AI generated content and other generative and/or low quality audio products. Streaming platforms are currently swamped with content and they have taken strict measure in an effort to cap the massive and, quite frankly, unsustainable volume of content being released every day.
So, we as distributors, together with our artist and label partners, are forced to take action in order to keep our shared business sustainable.
A more controlled and curated approach to music distribution is crucial for fostering long-term, sustainable growth. We are also hopeful that these new policies will significantly reduce instances of copyright infringement, artificial streaming, and other harmful behaviours.
In an effort to keep our service affordable to indie artists and labels we have set the prices as low as possible during this initial period. We have also lowered our royalty commission from 25% to 20% in order to compensate the new upfront fees.
For our label customers: not to worry. All existing contracts apply and no changes to pricing are made at this time. There may be some manual set ups that need to be done before your next release but, if any issues arise, please contact us and we'll sort things out.
So, in summary:
- Singles and EPs (1-3 tracks) are now priced at 1,99€/release (one time fee)
- Albums (4-25 tracks) are now priced at 2,99€/release (one time fee)
- Release processing fees are handled via PayPal
- Royalty commission is lowered from 25% to 20% across the board
- Previous label contracts (and the pricing included in those) stay in place
Despite these changes I do believe that this new arrangement will ultimately be for the best to all creators of high quality indie music. These changes come out of necessity and we hope to retain a good working relationship with all our artist and label customers while complying with streaming platform policy and maintaining a sustainable music industry.
