Starting in 2024, we will begin to publish physical copies of the musical works of Matron Thorn. Quantities will be small, promotion will be minimal if at all. Matron Thorn has been creating music for about 20 years, with hundreds of releases to his name. At this point, those who know, know. True underground is nurturing the special few around the world who have followed this music through the changing phases of life, both theirs and the creators, instead of straining to pervert and cheapen the meaning of the art by trying to appeal to every new listener. New listeners are of course welcome, but this illusory culture of monopolistic competition for thrones and dominions does not interest us at all. No Virtues Fables stands for the absence of conventional virtues of existence as a creative entity. The music of Matron Thorn will continue to be created and exist, regardless of who hears it or not. In fact, a vast majority of his music is unheard, despite being available online for years.
This art can be accepted by many or disappear into obscurity forever. Externally, it makes no difference. All that matters is to create art any way you can. There is no interest in reviews, there is no interest in any trappings of superficial representation. This is not to disparage anyone else's methods, may they prosper on the path which is right for them. This is simply to state what the core values of this endeavor must be, if in order to undertake it at all. The releases are not a secret, but if you want them, you must seek them out. There could be repressings, or special editions, or on the other hand, there might not be anything like that ever. The concept of music as a commodity is personally detestable to Matron Thorn, as is the pursuit of artistic creation as a capitalist venture, unavoidable as that is when discussing matters of physical publication. Furthermore, the label is located entirely in Finland, so try to imagine the financial considerations to overcome shipping from such a distant corner of the Earth. Merch will eventually become available through ESOTRA LUXE, as will other exclusive designs created by Matron Thorn's graphic design work like many of his album covers, and sometimes via the collaborations with others.
We'll make the albums. If someone buys them, great. If not, that's fine too. Frankly, this music is unmarketable. Not everyone is going to like this stuff, and even fewer people will understand it. That sits perfectly with the artistic goals of Matron Thorn. In your art, the more honest and authentic to yourself you are, the more it alienates others and is therefore impossible to "sell". So do you want to sell albums or create meaningful art?
This is true, unmarketable, irredeemable, no bu****it twilight of the gods art for the end of the world. I don't expect many to read this or care, but here it is.
