The Government of Dominica, in collaboration with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, gave education grants to twenty-two students attending Dominica State College on Monday, December 3rd.

Each student received a grant of 1000 US dollars. Minister for Education, Hon. Octavia Alfred stated that this ceremony was another step in the relationship between the two countries going on thank them for their contribution to the lives of the students.
“On behalf of the Government of Dominica, through the Ministry of Education I want to express gratitude to the People’s Republic of China for your partnership, your collaboration, your friendship and your support to our students.

Meanwhile, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Chu Maoming noted that these education grants will help the students “realize their values, goals and dreams.’
Acting Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Irving McIntyre added that these scholarships “will serve to reinforce the bonds of friendship, mutual respect and collaboration between our two nations.”

He went on to say that this event is of special significance “because it is an investment in the education, an investment in our children’s future, and an investment in the future of Dominica.”

This is the second annual hosting of this event.

On Wednesday 20th November, Dominica Youth Business Trust held it's 20th Graduation & Award Ceremony.

Prime Minister Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit held a bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister H.E Narendra Modi on the margins of the CARICOM-India Summit on Wednesday in Guyana.

PM Skerrit expressed Dominica's gratitude for India's continued support and highlighted the importance of cooperation in addressing the challenges faced by small island nations.

President of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Her Excellency Sylvanie Burton and Mr. Burton arrived at the Eugene F. Correia International Airport in Guyana on Tuesday ahead of the CARICOM-India Summit scheduled for today, Wednesday, November 20.

The President is also in Guyana to confer the Dominica Award of Honour on the Prime Minister of India, H.E Narendra Modi.
