‘Why Am I Sad’ by Dana Stirling // A journey through the complex world of emotions along American landscapes.

In ‘Why Am I Sad’, Stirling embarks on an exploration of the complex interplay between mental health and artistic expression in associative, poetic photographs. 🦌

Through navigating her own emotions, the project assumes a broader cultural significance, transcending personal narratives to engage with universal discourse on mental health. The visual diary becomes a testament to the transformative power of art, revealing layers of vulnerability, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of meaning.

In the preface to Instant Memoir, Rubén Gallo says « In the age of Instagram and social media, Michaela Spiegel has chosen a medium that harks back to a pre-digital age. For over thirty years, she has documented aspects of her affective life using a Polaroid camera. These snapshots convey the texture of a different era: if Super-8 home movies evoke the 1970s, these evoke the ambience of life in the 1980s.”…
..« Instant Memoir is about pleasure, the senses, adventure, fantasy, play, and so many other things that seem to have gone missing in our digital age. » According to the artist, they are also about happiness.

🌟Discover Martin Essl’s "Le bateau ivre", his new upcoming book, on preview for our most enthusiastic photography lovers! 💙Immerse yourself in Essl’s exquisite works and experience a unique visual journey. Don't miss out! ✨

📘The title “Le bateau ivre” (The Drunken Boat) refers to the poem of the same name by Arthur Rimbaud, in which he uses the image of a boat to represent a man’s journey through life. In a poetic photographic essay structured like a play in five acts, Martin Essl redraws the outline of a city in transformation and composes an abstract and contemporary map of Paris.

»Le bateau ivre leads us on a Parisian tour that shows the eternal return of the same, like a curtain that opens and closes endlessly. As if diluted and transformed, under the influence of variations around cold colors, the Parisian space gradually becomes acqua alta, geographical, social, cultural, and temporal boundaries are dissolved.«
