FUNK FOUNDATIONS / George Cvetkovski

Tommy Stewart is an important underground figure for the funk music. Born in 1939…he was drawn to music at early age thanks to his mother. In 1964 he played with Fred Wesley and members of the 55th Army band. He wrote and composed for TV and even played with Blue Note recording artist Duke Pearson. In 1973 he arranged and composed a musical score called “The Burning of Atlanta” and later on, worked as arranger, producer, performer and writer for the likes of Clarence Carter, Candi Staton, Johnny Taylor, Major Lance, Eddie Kendricks, Luther Ingram, Millie Jackson, Flip Wilson, Roy Gaines, Tamiko Jones and many others. His self titled LP and sophomore follow up as Stevo, has Stewart often labeled as an innovator of disco-funk….but on my books he is a funk master…enjoy the show

Tribute to Tom Moulton…the originator of the remix and the 12-inch single vinyl format…the creator of the breakdown
section or “Disco Break”. Frequently seen on many M70s albums with the phrase “A Tom Moulton Mix” indicating that
Tom Moulton had mixed, produced or engineered the record. His innovative work was honored at the 2004 Dance Music
Hall of Fame ceremony in NYC. In the line of this show, I will play his versatility from soul to funk and deep disco-funk. Enjoy it!

Fabio Wolkenstein is a record collector based in Vienna, Austria. Together with two friends he runs the label "Edition Hawara", which reissues forgotten jazz and disco oddities from 1980s Austria. He first discovered his passion for music when listening to cheesy 2000s-house as a teenager. With many relocations around Europe, his tastes have eventually evolved to include jazz, reggae, soul, and house that isn't cheesy.

In Vienna and his hometown Graz, the name Flying Horstman and Electric Magic Disco Bongo stand for driving disco nights with bookings from all over Europe.

which were predominantly white. They created interesting fusion blending all different styles. These records are

not easy to find…mostly hidden in the vast crates of rock and pop...with touches of jazz-fusion and funk.
