Cameroon: Journalist arrested, amid increased intimidation of media workers

Aminou Alioum, correspondent of Canal 2 International in Cameroon was ambushed and arrested by plain-clothes police officials in his hometown, Maroua, on 13 November. He was taken to Garoua, in the far North Regional Division of the Judicial Police. The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) joins its affiliate, Le Syndicat National des Journalistes du Cameroun (SNJC) in condemning in the strongest terms possible this act of intimidation, harassment and deceit meted out to a journalist who was simply doing his job in the public interest.

Good evening team

Just to share with you my tips on being a good trade union leader.... it may not be perfect but I think it can help

1. Understand the issues: A good trade union leader needs to have a deep understanding of the issues that affect their members. This includes knowledge of labor laws, workplace safety regulations, and industry-specific challenges.

2. Be a good communicator: Communication skills are essential for a trade union leader. You need to be able to communicate effectively with your members, other leaders, and management. This includes the ability to negotiate, persuade, and resolve conflicts.

3. Build relationships: Building strong relationships with your members, other unions, and management is key to being an effective trade union leader. This involves being approachable, listening to concerns, and finding common ground.

4. Be organized: A good trade union leader needs to be organized and efficient. This includes keeping accurate records, managing finances, and scheduling meetings.

5. Stay informed: Keeping up-to-date with changes in labor laws, industry trends, and workplace issues is crucial for a trade union leader. Attend conferences, read industry publications, and stay connected with other leaders to stay informed.

Remember that becoming a good trade union leader takes time and effort. It requires dedication, hard work, and a commitment to your members.

Enjoy the rest of your evening

😱 Following yesterday's Teacher's Day celebration, Nigerian singer, Teni visited her secondary school campus & awarded her maths teacher with a brand new car after making a heartfelt speech of how important that particular maths teacher was to her education🚗‼️

Applaudable move👏👏

Respect the Teacher. Stop addressing them as common Teacher. It is not easy to be a Teacher. I vote that a primary school teacher should earn 1million FRS while a secondary school Teacher should earn 500000frs and a University lecturer should earn 350000fts.
My opinion is that when a child grows in learning he does most of self tutoring.
Happy Teachers day.
