New Single: "LISTEN"⁣ Out Now!

It’s my great pleasure to share “Listen”, the second single from the GOLDEN album.

The song was born of an in-studio collaboration with my main man, Joby Baker, as we were following our spontaneous excitement and vibing on our mutual love of classic Soul and
R & B.

Joby laid down a foundation that has a whole lotta soul and a groove that’ll make you want to move. Before I knew it, the melodies were flowing and my pen was moving furiously, and the rest unfolded effortlessly from there.

The song's lyrics journey from the pain of not being heard to the exhilarating exhalation of finally expressing long-suppressed truths and parts of ourselves. At its essence, "Listen" is an invitation to reclaim YOUR VOICE with the unbridled permission to be fully heard, accepted and loved.

Produced by Atlanta producer VersaceP Alexander, who has created every single track from Jully since 2009, and inspired by the seven years it took for Viola Davis to make ‘The Woman King’ while being on the cusp of participating in the inaugural Black Academy Legacy Awards – a celebration of Black excellence in film, television, music and sports, the album is Black’s first full length body of work in over a decade. LESS KILLJOY hopes to build a community of people who feel safe around one another, despite their race, gender, sexuality, age, or socioeconomic status, her raw honesty and true passion for inclusivity makes her one to watch. A big thanks to the @theelmocambo for hosting an incredible lineup of artists including @brettmatthewsmusic, @jessiealexandraaaaa, @the_lydster and @bknoxmusic who all gave beautiful performances. The night ended with a special performance by @brettmatthewsmusic and @classifiedhiphop A very special thanks to @roddyc, @benjaminthomas_, @burketalks, @faber.films, the @theelmocambo staff and Taras & Mike for all you do to make this monthly event such a special night for the artists and audiences alike. We’d like to acknowledge everyone who was able to bring donated winter clothing to the event. We were able to bring four large bags of clothing to the local outreach centre, which we’re sure went a long way to help many people staying warm this winter. 🥰 Roll on 2024!
