Eggs thrown at King Charles during visit to York; protester detained by police
WATCH: A man was detained on Wednesday after eggs were thrown at King Charles and Camilla, his wife and queen consort, from a jeering crowd, as they carried out an engagement in York, England. Footage showed four eggs narrowly missing the British monarch and smashing on the ground as they arrived for a traditional ceremony.

45% of Canadians concerned about holiday spending costs: Ipsos poll
WATCH: In a new Ipsos poll done exclusively for Global News and released Monday, 45 per cent of Canadians expressed concern that they don't have enough money to spend on holiday gifts, while 30 per cent of Canadians said they will rein in their gift shopping this holiday season, and spend less compared with previous years.
However, 52 per cent of people said they anticipated spending about the same as before.

Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland is set to give the Canadian government’s outlook for the economy and its own spending plans in the fall economic statement on Thursday, as inflation stays hot, interest rates rise and rumblings of recession grow louder.
The Trudeau government's fiscal update will focus on driving investment in Canada's clean energy industries in response to new American tax incentives signed into law in August in the Inflation Reduction Act.
Freeland's update will include a new tax on corporate stock buybacks to encourage companies to invest in their own operations. It will also introduce new or enhanced tax incentives to aid the growth of clean energy including hydrogen.

CUPE's OSBCU president says strike date 'not interfering' with bargaining
WATCH: CUPE's Ontario School Board Council of Unions president Laura Walton pushed back Wednesday on Education Minister Stephen Lecce's call for an end to a proposed one-day strike this Friday, saying that the strike date was "not interfering" with the bargaining process.
She said what was interfering was the government's legislation to impose a contract on 55,000 education workers and Lecce's "complete refusal to negotiate."
