Hace ya más de un año que Family Filmmaker no está operativo; pero aún siento la misma pasión por crear contenido, contar historias.

Este mes estaré asesorando a una persona que quiere comenzar su podcast. Tiene muy buenas ideas y posibles entrevistados pero un poco de duda sobre los aspectos técnicos de la producción. Ya les contaré más.

También estoy grabando, editando y coordinando el podcast de mi esposa INSPIRED ALIGNMENT . La semana pasada decidí aumentar a tres cámaras “just for fun”

Being grateful in public is kind of risky because it defeats the unspoken pact between giver and receiver. But when it’s your parents that are so generous you kind of HAVE TO take a step and say something.

My mom and dad have helped me in ways that were practically impossible. When we thought there was nothing left and it was time to abort the mission, here they are. Literally saving the day (or the week or the month !)

My mom and dad have shown over and over the true meaning of selfless love and generosity. And don’t take my word for it , as it might be slightly biased by a mile or two. Ask their neighbours. Ask their friends. Ask anyone that knows them.

Happy belated to one and all. It might not be s celebration for everybody , but at least within my family it represents a nice moment every year to reflect on where we are standing as immigrants , citizens of the world , and over all , good neighbours in general.

And so it begins a new chapter in this adventure called life. A lot of preparation to work as a film crew in British Columbia , and right after graduation (March 2023) a writers union strike has put a halt to many productions that were supposed to be rolling in the province of BC.

Plan B? A short two day certification as a traffic control person and off to the roads. Helping construction workers , drivers and pedestrians to be safe out there ☀️ rain or shine 🌧️

Estoy tan tan orgulloso de mis hijos !
Esta caminata queda en un lugar llamado y desde hace tiempo mis amigos me habían dicho :
1) que no venga Tenshy porque le va a dar vértigo.
2) mejor ve solamente con Nico. Es muy avanzada para Sebastian.
Como verán , solo hice caso al punto número 1 jajaja ! Sebastian usó todas sus fuerzas , trepó, se sostuvo de cuerdas , hizo bum-sliding (conocido en Venezuela como culicross) jajaja que gran aventura. Esta es nuestra foto muy felices en la cumbre. No medí nada pero mi amiga dice que su app registró 9kms.

Se imaginarán que dormimos de lo mejor esa noche al llegar a casa.

Grandparents have this canny ability to step back and enjoy the show.
Whatever the show is. It could be anything from art display from the grandkids to a full-swing meltdown.

And more often than not, the camera points at such grandkid. But this time the tables turned and we get to see their reaction. Can you guess what was going on there?

Uncle Daniel is helping Nico setting up the star at the top of their Christmas tree in Calgary. They have not seen each other for at least a year, since we moved from Alberta to British Columbia.

It's funny how many of our childhood memories are intertwined with cousins, aunties and uncles. I do remember my uncle Pedro taking my sister and I to school when we were 2nd graders or so. He didn't drive, so we took the bus. Quite an adventure as I recall. 🚌

A lot of learning has bloomed from the last two weeks while visiting my in-laws and my parents here in Calgary. We moved to beautiful little over a year ago and it was time for the grandparents to spoil our kids a tad.

What do you long the most whenever you are visiting from out of town?

Being selfless does not mean you don't think of yourself. It has more to do with how you see the world around you. Where others see a problem, you see an opportunity.

Lending a hand in troubled times, and giving what you can.
It doesn't have to be lots.
Actually, it can be small things; like sharing a meal.

Abuelina sure enjoys cooking as a love form. Her meals are one of her creative outlets and the circle becomes complete when her grandkids start cooking with her.

Moments like this make province traveling worthwhile.

It takes little for kids to be happy. Let me clarify, I am talking about material needs. Emotionally speaking they need much much more, as we are guiding them through their own discovery of the world.

Here, Auntie Pamela helped her nephews building a couch and ended up watching silly videos and playing with them.

As they invested a couple of hours on the activity, I thought well, they are creating memories during our short stay in Calgary. We have been here for a couple of weeks now and we are trying to see as much extended family as possible.

A word of advice, have a chat in advance with your extended family if you're planning to visit from far. You'll need little details as pillows and blankets (that won't fit in your carry on baggage) and the hosts will definitely need a list of recommendations or expectations when having kids over. It will save you a lot of trouble down the road, trust me.

Let's keep playing the anecdote game and tell us what you remember the most from those christmas visits to your relatives. The neat and the ugly ☺️

Tío Tano holds his phone as we are getting ready to start the line of production. It was a three day process to have all the hallacas ready, right in time for the festivities.

We as parents used to have a more strict policy on smartphones being used, mostly because our kids were little. They are still little but we have been re thinking the whole thing from a hands-on perspective and we are exposing them little by little to technology.

Share with us a 'smartphones during visit hours' anecdote in the comments section. We are learning as we go so there is no right or wrong here.

Life isn't other than a gathering of brief moments. I was clicking photos here and there during the and suddenly my son noticed the camera. Looked straight at it and broke the fourth wall.

That teensy tiny moment made me think of how much he's grown since we are living the . Nico has become more self aware, more observant, and in general a more conscious individual. His personal traits are starting to show at a very young age.

As my dad said when we were kids:
I might not be in that photo but believe me, I was there.

Wherever you are in the planet, we wish you moments of harmony, happiness and inner seeking during the holidays. Take a moment for yourself. And also be kind to your inner child.

Worth reading , specially when we discover that going back home is no super power. It’s a power that we all have.

It’s will power.

It’s about making conscious decisions.

Ryan Reynolds has been in the news promoting his new holiday movie with Will Ferrell, and taking up every square inch of digital ad space talking about Mint Mobile. But despite his busy schedule, Blake Lively praised her husband for his devotion to being a dad recently at the American Cinematheque Award ceremony. Reynolds is currently on an acting sabbatical to focus even more on being a dad and being present with his kids. Even when he is working, though, Lively said Reynolds always raced home as soon as he could.

“Now I am his home, and our girls are his home, and…he races home, whether it’s from across the globe or a meeting across the street, he is hard-wired to get home,” she said, introducing him in the LA ceremony. Lively is currently pregnant with the couple’s fourth child. “If he came home from set not in his wardrobe, we would be very concerned.”

And she meant that literally, continuing, "he would show up with mud, fake blood, real blood, prosthetic scars, superhero suits, shoes or clown makeup, daddy always comes home. And that man races back to his real life like nothing I have ever seen. Especially not by someone who is able to be so all in, in his work life."

Not only is he all in at work, though. The actor/soccer club owner/marketing mogul/ gin...guy is even better at home as a dad and husband.

“He is able to somehow be everything to everyone, all at once. He is the most present person you will ever meet," Lively said. "And yes, he creates magic in his work, but man, oh man, does he create magic in his real life."

That’s the kind of stuff you want to hear about people that definitely seem cool. She could’ve given a rote speech about his acting work, instead she gave an emotional speech about how dedicated he is in ALL facets of his life and how he still manages to kill it as a dad.
