My Grandfather's Basement - PSD to 3D - coming soon
Here is another quick look at the PSD to 3D process. The PSD to 3D plugin allows the user to take 2D layers from Photoshop and bring them into 3D software. This example was made by someone who had never worked in 3D before and was afraid of the learning curve to even try it, but with the plugin she got right into Maya and built this scene.
The tool is going to be up on our store really soon and we can't wait to see what other makers come up with.

Our newest plugin is coming out soon! PSD to 3D is a plugin that allows the user to take 2D layers from Photoshop into Maya (the current build's compatible 3D platform). Stay tuned for more on the tool and how you can use it in your animation pipeline.
My Grandfather's Basement - Made using the PSD to 3D plugin
We have been busy BETA testing our newest plugin PSD to 3D both in the studio and at the NFB. We are going to be posting the results of these tests as we get closer to releasing the plugin on our store.
Here is a process video, along with the final render for a test shot put together by Roxann. Before beginning this project she had never used #Maya or any other 3D software.
Director's statement: “My Grandfather's Basement is a short inspired by a memory from when I was a child. As a kid I spent many holidays at my grandparents house, playing in the basement with my cousins and my grandfather’s possessions. Having not visited the space in years and knowing I will never see it again, I tried to recreate the feeling, atmosphere, and objects that filled the space that was once my Grandfather’s basement.”
