All the flat top pistons are in the 6.0 LS, Eagle Forged rods and rod bolts torqued to the Eagle/ARP specs, everything rotating nice. Comp Cams single adjustable timing chain back in set to 0 advance. Lifters soaking in oil for the day. Some good progress this weekend.

Here another good classic. This was the first XJ I ever saw with Clayton offroad suspension. You might recognize this spot at Moon Rocks in Naches. Guys drive all over these rocks now but back around 2000 no one was. This rig performed so well I ended up not just a fan of Clayton square control arms but built a couple rigs for magazine articles. Still love their stuff. I even converted my TJ into long arm front leafs rear partly because of this. Fun times!

Digging for pictures today and came across a classic of me lol.

Feeling a little hone-y today. Fixed the bad hole from the broken piston took a while with a flat stone style hone. I did slide one of the file fit rings into the hole a few times to check my progress compared to the hole beside it using the ring gap as a base. Then slide the hone into hole #2 and even though I could not feel a ridge there is obviously some work to do in every cylinder. Good times.

My box of rebuild parts came from summit racing. 3 days from the time I ordered. Here are the pistons and rods. Forged Eagle rods for floating pins and forged Summit racing pro LS flat top pistons. So I don’t have to press and heat anything. Also check out the ring position on the new pistons. Makes the top edge almost twice as thick as the edge that failed on my stock cast pistons. The stock rods are also cast not forged. Nice strength upgrade and going from dished to flat tops completed the bump from the stock LQ4 9.4:1. To the LQ9 10:1 with my Trickflow 65cc heads.

Wow hard to believe I started this project over 7 years ago. This was just after the box was made and we bent the cage up still took a while to get through the rest of the build.

Sometimes I see rusty TJs and wonder why they are so rusty. Then I do some math and realize a 1998 TJ now qualifies for 25 year old vintage plates. Long live the TJ!

Two popular stand alone electronic trans controllers. I was running the EZ TCU on my 4L80e but my trans melt down effected the wiring so Im changing to the Edelbrock TC. While the EZ TCU has a few more options like paddle shift and a convertor lock up override I never really used them and the newer software interface of the Edelbrock means far less wiring and using a cell phone ap for all the programming. There is now a ap add on to the EZ as well.

Found a picture of the big block I built for my snow wheeler. Stroker Ford 460 to 545 trickflow heads with a port matched Trickflow intake and Holley injection. It was a driveshaft snapper. Had to weld all the caps into the rear driveshaft to stop spitting the caps out. #545

Swapping out my 4l80e trans controller. This one works via blue tooth ap and a program on your phone. While I will loose the paddle shift control on my EZ TCU it does have a switchable wire for two different trans programs. And the ap makes for easy adjustments if needed.

I found all the links to my 4by4tech magazines on ISSUU. Any digital magazines I created when I owned the print magazine 4WD seem to have been Lost. These have ads but I also found some of the direct links to the copies on Virtual paper and those links I added to the website jpstuff.com. Enjoy!
