I Mizoram Governor Issues Prosecution Sanction Against CADC CEM Dangu Rasik Mohan Chakma in Corruption Case.
Kamalanagar, September 27, 2024: The Hon'ble Governor of Mizoram has officially sanctioned the prosecution of Dangu Rasik Mohan Chakma, the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) and a sitting Member of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly (MLA). This sanction, dated September 20, 2024, was issued by the Secretary to the Government of Mizoram from the DC&MA Department on behalf of the Governor.
The decision arises from serious allegations of misappropriation of government funds linked to the construction of a drainage system at Kamalanagar-III, located near Dangu Rasik Mohan Chakma's residence. Following a thorough review of the evidence and circumstances, the Governor has approved prosecution under Section 19 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as well as Section 197 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973.
Dangu Rasik Mohan Chakma will face legal proceedings in a court of law for offenses punishable under Sections 13(1)(a) and 13(1)(b) in conjunction with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and Sections 409 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). This case was initially registered as ACB PS Case No. 3/2023 on July 21, 2023.
