IT’S FINALS TIME 🖤🤍

A HUGE congratulations goes out to our U17s football team coached by Nick Guthridge and assisted by Harris Dark, for not only making it to finals BUT ALSO FOR WINNING TODAY 🖤🤍

We asked Smurf to answer a few questions earlier in the week and here is his answers;

Finals questions:

Q: Where did you finish on the ladder?
A: we finished 2nd on the ladder

Q; As the coach, what have been some of the Standout moments during the 2023 season?
A: The point where we went from individuals playing football,
To playing more as a team which was when we played Portland at Henty Park that it all clicked.

Q: Does your team have a Team Quote or Mantra?
A:We are a champion team not team of champions.

Q: During the season, what are some things players excelled in?
A: The boys excepted and took on the game style that I expected from them which is more of a senior style that we’re using in the higher grades. This will help the boys when they move up through the ranks into senior levels!

Q;What can we expect to see moving into finals?
A- the determination to succeed.

Q;Anything you’d like to say to your group?
A; stick together don’t give up play as a champion team.

The finals campaign is definitely alive for our U17s, you can catch them in action again next Saturday 🖤🤍

Portland Aluminium has inked a nine-year agreement with AGL Energy which covers 300 megawatts of power supply and takes effect from 1 July 2026 when the existing contracts with AGL end. This volume represents approximately 50 per cent of the energy required to meet the facility’s nameplate capacity of 358,000 tonnes of aluminium per year. The smelter is currently producing about 75 per cent of that volume.

Our Under 13s and A-Grade teams play the first Elimination Final on Sunday in Cavendish. Let's get around these teams and make an effort to cheer them on the day. It is always tough in finals, but sometimes the extra support and cheer from people in the crowd is all anyone needs to get that extra boost!

A special shout out to many of these players who will be playing in their very first final for Westerns!

Congratulations to all students who participated in the National Big Science Competition in Term 2. Some outstanding and note worthy results including:

Participation- Lila Barker, Eve Wood, Charles Eats, Cody Howard, Kelly Banks-Marra and Nicole Chitambo

Students then went to the next level competing in the Junior Science Olympiad Competition. Amelia, Rose and Preet received a commendable Credit result in what was a very challenging and high level competition. Congratulations to all students who participated.

WE desperately need your help in raising $30,000 to send Rielly to Germany/Malayasia for treatment of Lyme Disease.

Rielly (son of Troy) grew up in Portland VIC, and moved to Queensland at age 22.

He had always been healthy and active but it was in Queensland that he developed his passion for body building. With dedication, commitment and self-discipline, a strict training program and diet regime he felt ready and confident to compete in the Nabba Body Building competition in 2014.

The following year in June he competed in the Asia Pacific in the Gold Coast. He took out first place! It was a proud achievement for Rielly and his family.

We would like to announce that after great consideration and family consultation Tasty Tuckerbox has now closed at both our Richmond Street and Foreshore locations,
however we will remain available for Event Bookings.

We would like to thank all of our loyal customers for your ongoing support and patronage over the past 2 and a half years, from our humble beginnings in our little white van at the jetty to our final premises at the Iron Bar.

We have thoroughly enjoyed serving fresh Portland Fish'n'Chips and branching out to a full menu during our stay over the winter months at the Iron Bar in Richmond Street. There's been lots of hard work from our family, friends and staff.
We would like to extend many thanks to all staff that have been a part of Tasty Tuckerbox.
