LOCAL residents are being warned to prepare for potentially hazardous fire conditions across the South West district tomorrow, Friday 9 January, with the Country Fire Authority declaring a Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating for parts of Victoria including the South West.

A state-wide Total Fire Ban has also been declared for Victoria, with high temperatures and strong gusty winds expected to blanket the state – the Bureau of Meteorology have also issued a severe heatwave warning for the South West.

Residents looking to use public transport are being urged to seek other arrangements, with V/Line cancelling all train and coach services in the South West district due to the fire danger.
