I'm a little awkward on the frame drum, but, I love the flexibility and freedom to drum, move and sing at the same time!
Pm if you want to be involved with a small frame drum and voice project we have happening 😉
What if we could spend the afternoon just being..
Relaxing into communion with each other without agenda or competition...
Encouraging each other's spirits..

Repost from Inger - Befriend Community development officer for the City of Kwinana.
'AND THE BEAT GOES ON . . .
What another fun drumming circle session we had yesterday afternoon at the Wellard Pavillion.
Longer sequences changing direction at any given time as we all expressed and shared our individual unique beats whilst coming together as one.
Add a percussion instrument here and there with some vocals and at times you could feel yourself just getting lost in the moment.'
Thank you once again to our Drum Circle Facilitator and most recent new Host to Befriend - Sarah, and thanks to Lauren from Kwinana in Transition/Imagine Kwinana for the use of their djembe drums, the support from the City of Kwinana and of course to everyone who came along.
If you missed this one or would like to come again to the next meetup you might like to pencil in Sunday, 19th September - 4pm til 6pm @ The Wellard Pavillion we’ll be there.

Oh bird song!
How you remind me that I can flop by being judgemental, rigid and flat... Yes I feel renewed when I dive deep into my feelings..
But
I must not hold my breath waiting for total enlightenment
or
I will feel all of humanity and the intimate depth of eternity..
And it will drown me..
I choose to reclaim the joy on my path to self discovery!!
Wild horses running across the plains..
Bringing medicine..
When I struggle with people abusing their power..
I have to remember
To have Compassion
But I can feel overwhelmed!
Remember,
Compassion, caring, teaching, loving, and sharing your gifts, talents and abilities are the gateways of power.
I value all people and paths..
We are all different colors of the rainbow all must be honoured as one..
So much fun at our family friendly classes on Wednesday nights from now on:) Thanks for coming guys!
We created something nice after our training tonight..
Week 7 this next week. So enjoying our tribal sounds! Look our for a class showcase around the 17th..
Week 3. Learning the valuable role of percussion and dynamics.. If you can't hear everyone playing, your playing to loud.. Percussion adds the spice... While we joke about the cowbells monotonous role in western music, in Brazil and West Africa the Clave is the cornerstone of the music. It's the first instrument to master before moving onto the other ensemble instruments. Once you know where the other parts sit in relation to the clave, you can understand the whole piece. The song and the dance included.. So, let's have more cowbell:)
Week 2:) Beginners class first ensemble piece - Shiko!
My passion for rhythmical empowerment, community and health and wellness was invited to facilitate at the last KISS empowerment womens course!
When I asked what she liked about my interactive drumming sessions during the course Chantelle Raven replied:
'Everything lol amazing music, amazing energy, amazing leadership and just this energy that was so alive and incredible!'
The recreational drum circle can be an entry level experience for someone who beleives that they are rhythmically challenged and incapable of keeping a beat or a song.
If a beginning beginner player is curious, intrigued and enticed enough to participate in an in the moment rhythmical expression event, then they will tend to have a fun, rhythmically empowering experience.
As a drum circle facilitator, I call the process of guiding a person toward experiencing and expressing their own rhythmical spirit rhythmical evangelism.
-Arthur Hull
