Zurich is one of those places that feels like it belongs on every traveller’s bucket list. Wander through the cobblestone streets of the medieval Old Town, stumble upon hidden cafés, or get lost in its art galleries. Whether you’re a city explorer or a lover of nature’s quiet beauty, Zurich’s charm wraps around you, making you want to linger just a little longer.

🔖 Top tips for visiting Zurich:

🚶🏻‍♀️Zurich is easy to explore on foot - don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes as the cobblestone streets can be uneven.

🙇🏻‍♀️ It’s very safe for solo female travellers! I felt safe exploring the city late at night - this was also my first time in Europe!

🚆 Public transport is convenient and easy to use. You can save money by getting unlimited public transport use on the Zurich Card or the Swiss Travel Pass.

⏱️ I only spent less than 24 hours here but recommend at least 2 days exploring the key sites without rushing.

🧭 Remember to leave extra time for wandering around the winding streets. Some places I found in Zurich were by chance.

What's one thing you're scared of doing?

The end of August marked an important milestone in my twenties - doing a solo trip AND visiting a destination I've always dreamed of visiting - Switzerland.

Although I've lived abroad alone in Korea, I still get those anxious butterflies travelling solo, but it's well worth it in the end. Because in the end , you miss out on so much more by not going.

Here's just a few highlights from Switzerland. ➡️ Take it as your sign to book that trip you've been dreaming of. 🤍

This account has been largely about my travels and rarely about me as a person.

In celebration of turning 25 last month, here are 25 things you might not know about me:

1. I was born in South Africa but grew up most of my life in Australia. 🇦🇺

2. I’m an only child and I’ve always wondered what it’s like to have a sibling.

3. My worst travel experience was surviving an earthquake.

4. I’ve dropped out of university.

5. I’m a strong advocate for self-education and growth.

6. I’m a huge bookworm. I’ve read over +25 books this year and hoping to reach 50 by the end of 2024.

7. I’ve struggled a lot with my self-esteem/anxiety for the past few years, even today.

8. I have an eclectic taste in music. One of my favourite genres however remains classical music which is owed to my mum taking me to ballet since I was little.

9. I often get bored easily if I’m not constantly learning something.

10. I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life.

11. I have a love-hate relationship with social media. It’s given me so many opportunities but sometimes I want to just go off the grid.

12. Most of my wardrobe is either black or neutrals.

13. I haven’t been back to my birth country in +10 years and wonder if I’ll feel any ‘connection’ to that place.

14. My first camera was a Sony camera.

15. Ever since I was a kid I’ve collected snowglobes from every place I’ve visited.

16. I despise small talk. I’d rather talk about deep conversation topics.

17. I’m scared of feeling ‘left’ behind in life. But I remind myself that every person’s journey is different.

18. I’ve never straightened my hair.

19. I believe people are more than just their jobs.

20. I’m introverted but extroverted with my close friends.

21. I genuinely believe that everything happens for a reason.

22. I think everyone should live abroad at least once in a life.

23. I despise winter. As someone with poor circulation I cannot function in cold weather.

24. I’m no different to you. I make mistakes. I’m still learning and figuring out life.

✨What better way to start the year…

Reflecting on 2023 I’ve realised how crazy it’s been. I’ve had both ups and downs navigating changes in my career, personal life, life abroad in Korea, saying goodbye to old friends, the list goes on.

Despite this, I’ve grown and learnt so much about myself and what really MATTERS the most to me.
