One of our customers needed a retube on his Dared. This particular amp had the original valves installed, so definitely time for new glassware.

We opted for a matched quad of EHX 6V6 and pair of NOS Saratov (Sovtek) 6H9C.

Results are better than expected, the amplifier sounds better than new.

The eTracer clearly illustrates why this frame grid type is considered a "Steep slope Triode".

One of our regular customers dropped off some old KT66 GEC / Osram valves for testing. A preliminary visual inspection wasn't promising - poor getters, broken spigot pins... We went ahead and tested anyway. Out of the 14 valves, 7 were failures, 2 were gassy 5 were "OK". Our professional opinion would be: Discard these old, used valves, as they are past their working life and if used will cause issues in the near future. Tested @ B+400, VG1 -36

One of our customers reached out for a matched quad of 6BM8/ECL82.
Being a Triode Pentode, finding a close match for iP and GM across four bottles for all sections is definitely a challenge. We took some
Philips NOS Valves - Hendon plant South Australia - and got them cooking on the Amplitrex. For Valves manufactured in the 70's and never been out of the box, the test results are extremely consistent. Australian Valves are world class and test results on a modern tester confirm this.

Philips 6GV8 ECL85. Genuine NOS, made in Australia. One of our customers requested these to be tested prior to shipping. Hickock 6000A roll chart doesn't list the type - 9LY pinout, so we had to consult the Supplementary Foreign Tube Guide. Results across three valves is excellent.
