🚫 Cliché Alert! 🚫

Is your writing full of phrases like "at the end of the day," "every cloud has a silver lining," or "the calm before the storm"? 🌦️ Clichés sneak in because they’re so familiar, but they can make the best writing feel tired and well worn.

What to do instead? Well, feel free to use them in the first instance but highlight them so you can come back and play around with them later. During the phase you can take the cliché and rewrite it in a fresh, unique way!

💡
Instead of “easy as pie” try “smooth as a vinyl record.” 🎶
Or turn “cool as a cucumber” into “as chill as ice cream in Summer.” ☀️
Instead of “thinking outside the box” try “taking the scenic route in your mind.” 🧠🌲
Switch out “a bump in the road” for “a pebble in the path.” 🌄

Removing clichés will give your reader something new to delight in!

My lovely neighbour ! She’s added a whole other level of beautiful to this wonderful weekend of meeting and and many a dedicated ! I’ve even purchased her after hearing all about it… I am usually not a fantasy reader for pleasure but I am excited to this title!! Book Fair is just around the corner!!
