Milton Nascimento and Spalding make for an accomplished collaborative pair. Born out of mutual-admiration, the two have put their own take on classics by Nascimento, The Beatles, Michael Jackson and more; as well as some original pieces by Esperanza and features from Paul Simon, Dianne Reeves, Lianne La Havas and more. A sublime album that I'm excited to dive into. 🫠👌

Our feature is courtesy of Big Yawn, a four-member electronic experimental music group based down in Melbourne/Naarm that have just released their fourth full-length album 'NGBE'. "Mutated drum 'n' bass", "low-key grime, rap, and dub-wise antics" are just some of the words used to describe this one - but there's a distinct jazz vibe that really sets this crew apart for me. Excited to dive into this album further! 🫠👌

Hiatus Kaiyote have released their fourth studio album 'Love Heart Cheat Code' FINALLY and it's everything I've been waiting for. Markedly more stripped back (if that’s even more possible for this often mind-bending band), overall it feels like where they ought to be at this moment in their career. Just over a decade in and still quintessentially them. 🫠👌

In such a ridiculous year (both in general human existence and personally), it's nuts to say I managed to create a radio documentary AND LIVE TO TELL THE BLOODY TALE. I'm super excited to share this doco with you now. DANCING WITH DEATH This documentary is inspired in large part by my mom. Many who know me know that she has been working in aged care/palliative care for a long time. Many might also know she can be a bit of a blunt legend at times - particularly when it comes to death/dying 😂 This doco is fuelled by her flagrant embracing of the subject of death, unwrapping the personal experiences and views of 2 people, including my mom, who effectively ‘dance with death' on a daily basis. What effect does their work have on their view of their field, themselves, and what is their own personal relationship with death? I'm overstepping my cringing because I'm super proud of it - and I feel it will leave everyone feeling a little bit more comforted, a bit bolder, and also probably having a bit of a laugh despite the dark(ish) nature of it. The New Thing is Eastside Radio's New Music Show. Every Monday morning Chelsea presents the very latest releases that are creating a buzz around the station. Expect to hear the full spectrum of Eastside sounds ranging from jazz, world, blues, soul, folk, roots, funk, hip hop, electronica and specialist music, with particular attention being paid to independent Australian artists. Each week four brand new albums are featured, with a few tracks played from each release to give you more of an insight into the music on offer.
