Gone are the good old days where the local paper boy (or girl) would ride around and deliver the paper.

In the "old" days, newspapers and the junk mail curled inside were how businesses advertised their products and/or services.

Today, we rely on Social and Digital Media to market our business. And while the medium has changed, the principle has not.

You see, in order for a business to make money, it needs to be marketed. In the "old"days it was newspapers, junk mail and word of mouth. Today, we rely on social media, digital platforms, and still word of mouth.

But no business should rely on only one form of advertising. They should consider a variety to build brand/product/service awareness and reputation drive sales.

This is the difference between a Social Media Manager (SMM) and a Digital Marketer (DM).

A SMM will look at posts, their engagement, number of likes and interactions and use this to determine success.

A experienced DM should create a targeted campaign for a specific period of time, review the analytical data, check and collate data from the other sources of advertising, request your report on the number of sales for the last week/fortnight/month, review the data against the sales of that period, discuss this information with yourself, identify where improvements can be made and then re-design a new marketing strategy based on the collection of all this information.

It can be quite an involved process, but if you're serious about moving your business to the next level, then isn't it worth it?

Business owners sometimes forget that we as Digital Content Creators are also business owners. When appointments are made and then we are ghosted, it's a waste of our time. What's even worse is when those appointments are made to give free advice 😞

Time is valuable, no matter if it's your business or some one elses.

Most of you don't know, but I used to work for the National Cartoon Gallery when I lived in Coff Harbour.

This gallery holds so many great memories for the Kids and I, and we met some truly amazing, inspiring and dedicated people. People who volunteered so much of their time to make the gallery an amazing place to visit.

Would you believe I was even given the opportunity to curate my own exhibition? I can't tell you the wealth of knowledge I gained from that experience was phenomenal.

I know money is tight. ( I don't work 7 days a week for nothing LOL) and I'm not asking you to donate if you can't, but if you van it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty sure the day owned me today.

I'm constantly reminded that I need to slow down and take a break.

Being a workaholic, it's not as easy as people seem to think..

Once I get into the rhythm of work, it's near impossible to stop until I hit a wall.

Work/life balance is a lifestyle we all try to adopt today, but how exactly do you stop when there is still work to do?

How do you measure the amount of work left over from today and know you'll be able to keep your workload from overflowing tomorrow?

How do you learn to say no more?

Burnout is one of the major causes of mental health breakdowns, yet for some of us it's the only way we know how to keep going. To keep working.

Until something forces us to stop.

I'm still learning how to stop my day from 'being the boss of me' and learning to be the 'boss of my day'. But I tend to learn the hard way......... repeatedly.

For those who have already mastered this, please feel free to share your secrets cause there are those of us who need to know.

Having Coeliac's Disease can be very limiting when it comes to certain foods. Which is why a lot of my Clients are those who cater to Coeliac's and those with allergies and intolerances.

I'm not affiliated with Arnott's at all, but today I found the new gluten free jatz and BBQ shapes and I just had to share.

It's been over 8 years since I've been able to enjoy a decent jatz and shape type biscuit. So I bought them and I'm now in a food coma cause I ate too many LOL

Creating digital artwork takes time. This simple ad took me an hour and a half, and I'm still not completely happy with it.

Whilst I could just use an already created template, and save myself a little more time, these templates are used constantly. I prefer to create something that is original and only yours.

The Cleaning Award gives different rates depending on whether you’re full-time, part-time or casual.

An adult level 1 cleaner working for a contract cleaning company must be paid (per hour) at least:
• $21.71 full-time
• $24.97 part-time
• $27.14 casual.
The award doesn’t include per room or per office rates, so if you’re paid per task then you can’t get less for your work than you would when compared with the hourly rate.

There are also higher rates for working early mornings, afternoon and night shifts, weekends, public holidays and overtime.

When I get approached by prospective Clients, I'm always asked, "How much do you charge?"

This is such an ambiguous question, and here's why.

Imagine you're an electrician and you're asked that question. What would your response be?

You have no idea what work they need done, or what needs to be fixed. You have no idea of what materials and equipment you'll need. You can't mentally run through the possible issues you may encounter before you get there to take into consideration any problems, or even an idea of how long it could possibly take you to fix.

I mean, how do you even begin to quote on that?

Yet when a Social Media Manager is asked how much they charge, no further information is wanted to be provided and people seem to run away 🤷‍♀️

I get it.

No one wants to be ripped off.

Me included.

So let me run you through my most popular service for $220 per week.

First:
I take time to talk to you about your business. I get an understanding of you, your style, your business and your goals for the future. This conversation can take between 30 mins to 2 hours. This is your baby and I don't want to rush this conversation. I want to hear how you started it and why you love it, but also the struggles you're having. Because this is when I start to form ideas on how I can help.

Second:
Then I go online and look into your existing socials, google your business, google your competitors and research their businesses. I also look at your target market, serviceable area and any other factors that would help me get an idea of where your marketing needs to be targeting. This research takes time, but I want to make sure I've got a good handle on where we are at and the best way to start.

Third:
Then I put together a marketing strategy on where I feel would best gauge interest and create sales leads. And I love thinking outside the box so I may come at you with a few options.

Next:
We again get together and discuss what I've found. We work on what content you'd like created on what platforms and how many times a week. It's at this step where pricing starts to come into it.

Bare in mind there has been no charge yet for this research and all before we've agreed to work together.

Then:
Once we have agreed on the strategy, the pricing for the service, the type of content being posted, how many times a week across how many platforms, the content is THEN created. Now while I have 7 years experience in creating digital content, and I'm really quite efficient, it still takes time to make something new and unique. Look I could be lazy and pull a template from Canva, that's probably be used a hundreds times by other SMM's, but I'm fussy and hate having the same content as anyone else 🤷‍♀️ So it's created from scratch usually using Adobe programs, but I do also use Canva at times too.

Now:
So this service allow for 3 posts across Facebook, instagram and tik tok over a week, that's 9 posts (cause I change each post to fit each platform) that need to be created.

After:
On going monitoring of how many views, likes and engagement for each post. Responding to comments and tags if managing the account.

Then we rinse and repeat.

The Next Week: Rinse
Each week research needs to be done to see which posts worked well, which were ok and which completed sucked and got no traction. Again, research goes into the market, hashtags, what's trending, competitors, etc.

And Repeat.
Content created, monitored, engaged with and researched.

But what if you want more?
Video creation?
Reels?
More posts per week?
More platforms?

But what about
Flyer or poster creations.
Business cards?
Other forms of digital advertising?

So taking into consideration all the hours it would take just to post quality content 3 times a week, and divide that by $220, how much to you think per hour that would equate too? 🤔

So while I completely understand you want a quote for services, the cost for that service really depends on what you want me to do. And for that I can't provide a blanket "package".

It's ok you're looking for a cheap monthly package. There are plenty of overseas SMM that offer cheap packages, and I recommend looking for them on Airtaker.

However, if you'd like work with someone who focuses on YOUR business and will work with you to build your business with quality advertising, then I'm happy to chat. But please don't ask me for my 'packages' cause you may just get one you weren't expecting LOL 😉

Some posts are doubling on pages, some are completely missing, and others are adding random crazy bits and pieces.

A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,

This poem was written by a Peacekeeping soldier stationed overseas. The
following is his request. I think it is reasonable

PLEASE. Would you do me the kind favour of sending this to as many people as
you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to all of the
service men and women for our being able to celebrate these festivities. Let's
try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe. Make people stop and
think of our heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed themselves for us.
Please, do your small part to plant this small seed.
