This time last week, I was planning in my head all the important things I need to get done for the coming week. It seems insignificant now in the light of what has happened for our business and our family in the past few days, and the value of what and who is important, has become clearer than ever.
At 2am Tuesday morning the warehouse that I share a small part of with Tony from A Noble Events went up on fire. The cause of the fire is still being determined but at the time, the building had been disconnect from the power grid by Energex 3 days earlier, due to a traffic incident (down power pole). It was a total shock to be woken up with the news.
Firstly our hearts go out to the family of the firefighter who tragically lost her life in the line of duty, and those who where injured. This news gutted us and we can’t imagine how her family and fellow firefighters would be feeling. We just want to honor her work and her bravery, and send our love to all who are close.
Secondly I want to thank all our family, friends and industry mates who have flooded us with messages of support and offers of help. Every one has been appreciated. I have a tough time accepting help sometimes because of my self reliance or just plain pride, but I know this is a time where I need to accept the love and assistance. Thank you all so much.
While this is a devastating time in our business and family, having lost all but a remnant of our business assets, we know there is nothing we can do to change the circumstances. We will rebuild, and we choose hope for the future.
