UPDATE 9.45PM: Roads have reopened after a serious crash at Strathalbyn.

About 5.45pm today (Thursday 18 July), police and emergency services were called to Parker Avenue after reports that a car had collided with a parked unoccupied truck.

The driver of the Peugeot, an 85-year-old Strathalbyn woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

Major Crash officers attended the scene to examine the circumstances of the collision.

🚒🇨🇦 Exciting News! The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) is answering the call to support Canada during their wildfire crisis. On Saturday morning, nine brave CFS firefighters will head to Alberta and British Columbia to assist with incident management and fireground leadership. They'll join about 90 other personnel from across Australia for a deployment that could last up to 40 days.

Looks like we’ve got some warnings heading across the coast and in the my lofty ranges for you to be aware of.

The Bureau of Meteorology has updated a Severe Weather Warning ⚠️ for DAMAGING WINDS 💨

For people in Adelaide Metropolitan, Mount Lofty Ranges, Kangaroo Island and parts of West Coast, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Mid North, Murraylands, Upper South East and Lower South East districts.

Issued at 4:35 pm Thursday, 18 July 2024.

Damaging winds developing along the Mount Lofty Ranges and parts of the coastline from Friday morning.

Weather Situation: Strengthening northwesterly winds ahead of an approaching cold front will see the risk of damaging wind gusts increase for the Mount Lofty Ranges from Friday morning. In the wake of the cold front, a vigorous southwesterly flow will impact parts of the coastal fringe, persisting through to Saturday morning.

For the MOUNT LOFTY RANGES: Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 90 km/h are likely from early Friday morning.

For parts of the COASTLINE: DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with gusts of around 100 km/h are possible from Friday afternoon about the coastal fringe of the West Coast, extending east throughout the remainder of the day, likely impacting Adelaide from the evening, and into the southeast from Saturday morning.

Locations which may be affected include Adelaide, Port Lincoln, Ceduna, Kingscote, Victor Harbor and Meningie.

* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;

* Secure or put away loose items around your property.

* Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.
