Dating is the recent times has greatly revolutionized.
Growing up in the times of no internet people had to meet physically either in schools, functions such as weddings and funerals or even the church. These were the days that love at first sight mattered.

In the event that you were still not able to meet "someone" and was worried that time was no longer on your side, you could get connected via a friend or relative to their acquaintance.

The longest chatting was for penpals which meant sending letters via the post office overseas. And this meant that in a year you would exchange about 4 letters maximum.

Today life has easened and one can make friends from anywhere around the world in just a tap. Messages can be exchanged instantly and communication is easy.

However this now has opened up to online dating and in*******al dating. The world is truly a small circle courtesy of internet

The pictures above depicts two world's that are so close yet so far apart.

In this world sometimes, events happen that bring us together to people we never thought we would have anything mutually.

The first picture is dubai in UAE and the next is nairobi kenya. Both cities unique in their own. Nairobi the capital of Africa, and the only city in the world with a national park. It is the epitome of beauty and boasts of the Nairobi national park and the giraffe centre.

Dubai is on the league of its own. Top class world destination, luxurious city, boasting of its many skyscrapers and the great human inventions on architecture. This is definitely among the most visited and most coveted of all cities.

While Nairobi is a city in a tropical country, and is used to high rainfal. Dubai is in a desert, that only knows of rainfall from the man made cloud seeding activities.

The latest events however have seen both cities receiving heavy downpour that resulted in massive flooding. Dubai reported that the last heavy rainfall was experienced 75yrs ago. The meteorology department had hinted that a repeat of 1998 el Nino would be experienced in kenya.

Heavy flooding has a lot of negative impacts which mostly result to waterborne diseases like cholera. As we speak now, UAE has already announced cholera outbreak with over 100 hospitalized.

And this has led to so many people asking if Dubai is just the posh city, or its a polished ghetto. This is because they feel the weaknesses exposed on its poor drainage system, and the inability to combat floods, left is as vulnerable as any other poor city.

In my defence i would just say Dubai is a desert, and heavy rainfall is unlikely. All they can do is to learn from the past and embrace changes for a better tomorrow

Dive into Summer: The Refreshing Benefits of Swimming

As the summer sun begins to radiate its warmth, many of us seek solace in the cool embrace of a swimming pool. Beyond being a refreshing pastime, swimming offers a plethora of benefits for both body and mind, making it an ideal activity to embrace during the sunny season. Let's dive into the myriad advantages of spending time in the pool this summer.

**1. Full-Body Workout:**
Swimming engages nearly every muscle group in the body, providing an unparalleled full-body workout. From your arms and shoulders as you pull through the water, to your core muscles stabilizing your body, and your legs kicking to propel you forward, every stroke strengthens and tones your muscles without putting excessive strain on your joints.

**2. Cardiovascular Health:**
Immersing yourself in a swimming session elevates your heart rate, promoting cardiovascular fitness. The rhythmic nature of swimming, combined with controlled breathing, enhances lung capacity and circulation, contributing to a healthier heart and reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

**3. Low-Impact Exercise:**
Unlike high-impact activities such as running or weightlifting, swimming is gentle on the joints. The buoyancy of water reduces the impact on your bones and joints, making it an ideal exercise for individuals of all ages and fitness levels, including those recovering from injuries or managing conditions like arthritis.

**4. Stress Relief:**
There's something inherently soothing about the sensation of gliding through the water. Swimming not only provides physical benefits but also acts as a form of meditation, calming the mind and alleviating stress and anxiety. The rhythmic motion, coupled with the weightlessness of water, promotes relaxation and mental clarity, leaving you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated after a swim.

**5. Temperature Regulation:**
With the scorching heat of summer, nothing beats the sensation of plunging into a cool pool. Swimming helps regulate body temperature, keeping you comfortably cool even on the hottest of days. Whether you're doing laps or simply floating lazily, the water provides a welcome respite from the sweltering summer heat.

**6. Improved Flexibility and Range of Motion:**
The repetitive movements involved in swimming, such as reaching, stretching, and rotating, promote flexibility and enhance your range of motion. Regular swimming sessions can help loosen tight muscles, improve posture, and reduce the risk of injuries by maintaining joint mobility.

**7. Social Connection:**
Swimming is often enjoyed in community settings, whether it's at a local pool, beach, or swim club. Engaging in swimming activities with friends and family fosters social connections and strengthens bonds. It's an opportunity to share laughter, encouragement, and camaraderie while staying active and healthy together.

**8. Enhanced Mental Well-being:**
In addition to its physical benefits, swimming has profound effects on mental well-being. The combination of physical exertion, rhythmic breathing, and sensory immersion creates a therapeutic experience that uplifts mood, boosts self-esteem, and promotes overall mental wellness.

As you embrace the sunny days of summer, consider making swimming a regular part of your routine. Whether you're seeking a vigorous workout, a relaxing retreat, or simply a fun way to cool off, the benefits of spending time in the pool are undeniable. So, grab your swimsuit, take the plunge, and enjoy the refreshing rewards of swimming this summer!

Sunday evening is the laziest of the days to cook or so I suppose.
well for most of us, this is a day of total rest. the whole week has been spent working and 'as African as we are', Saturdays are laundry and deep cleaning days. people with house managers and day burgs will however not agree with us.

living outside Kenya deprives you of some luxuries like affording a house manager. but it comes with the advantage of high-quality gadgets at a pocket-friendly rate. so, either way, you aren't badly off. you can easily do your weeklong laundry in the washing machine in 2 hours, then spend 2 more hours in the dryer, and depending on your clothes type you have one hour of folding and ironing. dishes you can run in the dishwasher for an hour and put away in the racks easily. This means that cooking nice homemade delicious foods is a hard task for you.

since you are juggling between spending hours in the kitchen for that sumptuous meal you have been craving all week long or taking a good rest to be 'fresh' for the new week. the resting bit mostly wins, and you are left with an option of either ordering from the restaurant, which of course leaves a dent in your budget, or settling for some quick fix like the one I just did.

these beans I had preboiled a week ago and frozen them, the bread is easily available at the grocery stores for a few coins. and that's how my Sunday dinner is fixed in less than half an hour and am ready to sit and watch Man City face Arsenal

today let's talk about the last few days' occurrences. on the internet lately, there has been so much news of people transitioning. In our daily lives, we haven't been spared either and have been affected either by the loss of a kin, Neighbour or just an acquaintance. but have you ever wondered why death hurts so much?

I am not sure whether it's just African, or its human design to perceive death as a symbol of unity. once it occurs, any warring parties suddenly embrace peace, the deceased whether or not was loathed becomes everyone's favourite and people are willing to spend to the last coin to accord a decent send-off.

a person might have died of hunger but a few minutes after his demise a bull is slaughtered in the very homestead that he died hungry to celebrate his life. a person who lived in tatters will also be buried in an expensive suit and designer footwear. there will be a whole week of 'mourning' with plenty of food and drinks, an overnight vigil with a bonfire and lots of dances.

last week, I lost a man whom I had been privileged to meet 12 years ago albeit for a short time. at his death, he was 79 and probably ripe enough for death. we are however never ready to let go and will still hurt even when one dies at 150. death is death and its impact is the same, regardless of whether one is a toddler, teen, adult, or old age. my first reaction when I got the news, was to reminisce of the good few moments we had shared. and at this point, the brain is clouded, and all the bad memories are blocked. it is very rare to find an unpleasant memory coming up the instance someone's passing is relayed.

if you look at the celebrities who have passed on lately, Brian Chira and Kelvin Kiptum, you will agree with me that heroes are celebrated more at death than in life. we are quick to give them roses on their grave than when they are with us. and no matter how the deceased was controversial during their lifetime we choose to forget that and paint them the image of a saint. most times passing the blame to an innocent person, mostly one with a different opinion and causing them unnecessary bullying.

i look forward to the day we will embrace one another and offer solutions when one is still here with us. so that after they have passed on, we don't have to try concealing our guilt by going over and above organizing for grand funerals and wishing they would come back to witness us celebrating their life.
