A book is so much more than printed words
A book is both a product and a process.
It holds immense power.
The product:
Amongst other things, book is :
- A tool for change: It ignites revolutions of thought, and sparks innovation.
- A bridge for building connections: It connects individuals, cultures, and generations.
- An empathy amplifier:Through characters and narratives, books cultivate compassion, helping us see the world through diverse lenses.
The process:
For authors, crafting a book is a transformative journey. It is a process of self-discovery, resilience, and growth. Through the act of creation, authors not only shape narratives but also reshape themselves, discovering new depths of imagination, courage, and creativity.
Our project Story Lines: Abu Dhabi Senior Spotlight is one such project.
With the support of the lovely team at Ma’an Abu Dhabi, we have been working. with volunteers and senior citizens in Abu Dhabi to address the social issues faced by the elderly and challenge age-ist stereotypes in society.
We don’t know what the final product will look like yet, but through the process of building this book, we have undertaken a beautiful journey of building deep connections with people who would never have have crossed paths with.
Interacting with seniors of diverse personalities – from the jovial storytellers to the insightful observers – provided invaluable insights.
We have stories from business leaders, climate strategists, falcon-fliers and pearl divers.
Their narratives have challenged our biases and broadened our perspective on life.

The EPA celebrated their 15th anniversary with suhoor for members.
Shaikha Bodour proudly launched the Sharjah Publishing Sustainability Fund - Onshur, an initiative aimed at bolstering the publishing sector with capital, expertise, and innovation platforms. This initiative, announced in collaboration with the Sharjah Book Authority and @spcfreezone, marks a significant milestone in the journey towards enriching the publishing industry in the UAE.
Having started as self published authors to launching our indie publishing house uhibbook publishing, @zmehnaz and me were delighted to be a part of the event celebrating this milestone.
It was great to catch up with Iman BuShaiba of @sailpublishing , and enjoy the exceptional hospitality

Then every thing came together right here in Dubai, where the diverse culinary scene of the UAE has been an endless source of inspiration .
