Today in Football: Zimbabwe's Football club: Highlanders became the talk of African Football after the weekend's violence act in Bulawayo.

Biggest football match today in Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 @ 3pm.Dynamos vs Highlanders and our focus today is on Highlanders FC.
Formed in 1926 by a direct descendant of King Mzilikazi (grandson) who is the one who separated with his Khumalo people from the Zulu nation in KZN 🇿🇦 in the 1800s to settle in Current day Zimbabwe.Highlanders support base is mostly on cultural grounds although they have managed to pe*****te other regions in Zim.On paper Highlanders is the most supported club in Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 with highest ticket purchases every season. What you see below are the Nguni people of Zimbabwe(Amandebele) who traditionally are the support base of Highlanders in their traditional attire which closely resembles Zulu attire as both originally came from KZN 🇿🇦.It's not Amazulu 🇿🇦 below but picture was taken this week in Zim 🇿🇼.Zulu culture is spread as far as Southern Tanzania 🇹🇿 with KZN people spread in Zim 🇿🇼(Ndebele), Mozambique 🇲🇿(Ngoni/Shangaan),Zambia 🇿🇲(Ngoni), Malawi 🇲🇼(Ngoni) and Tanzania 🇹🇿(Ngoni) since the 1800s after disagreements with King Shaka. The Symbol of Highlanders FC is a shield with the image of a superimposed head of a cow and the motto "Siyinqaba"

Composition Of The Zimbabwean Parliament For 2023-2028

The upcoming 10th Parliament of Zimbabwe will consist of two main political parties: the ruling ZANU PF and the primary opposition, the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC). The ZANU PF party holds the majority of seats in the Parliament, but they were not able to secure the required two-thirds majority.

The 2023 – 2028 National Assembly will be constituted as follows:

A). *ZANUPF: 176 MPs*
1.a). 136 direct election.
1.b). 33 women’s quota.
1.c). 7 youth quota.

B). *CCC: 103 MPs.*
2.a). 73 direct.
2.b). 27 women’s quota.
2.c). 3 youth quota.

*The 2023 – 2028 Senate will be constituted as follows:*
ZANUPF: 33.
CCC: 27.
18 Chiefs.
2 representing People With Disabilities.

*Missing National Assembly Constituency:*
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) postponed the Gutu West constituency election, which was originally scheduled to be held alongside the harmonised polls on August 23, 2023. This decision was made due to the death of one of the candidates, Mr. Christopher Mutonhori Rwodzi, in a road accident that occurred after the nominations had closed.

This postponement is a standard procedure to allow for the nomination of an alternative candidate by those who had originally nominated the deceased candidate. Essentially, this converts the election into a by-election solely for that constituency.

The announcement of the postponement was made by Mr. Utloile Silaigwana, the chief elections officer of ZEC, through a notice published in the Government Gazette. According to the notice, a nomination court will be established at a later date, as advised by the Commission, to solicit fresh nominations for the election of a member of Parliament in the aforementioned constituency.

The Electoral Act mandates ZEC to defer a constituency election in the event of a candidate’s death between the nomination and the polling period, or even during the voting process itself. In such cases, all proceedings related to that election are deemed null and void, and the election process must start anew, following the same procedures as if a vacancy had occurred.

The candidates who were already duly nominated for the Gutu West Constituency do not require fresh nominations. These are John Paradza from ZANU PF and Mr Ephraim Murudu of CCC. However, the surviving candidates or their representatives must inform the constituency elections officer in writing of their intention to remain in the running.

*MDC Missing:*
The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) failed to secure any Parliamentary seats for the first time in 23 years. Since its establishment in 1999, the MDC has been the primary opposition party in the country. But under the leadership of former Deputy Prime Minister Thokozani Khupe and later Senator Douglas Mwonzora, the party faced criticism for allegedly collaborating with the ruling party, leading to a decline in its popularity. This accusation tarnished the party’s reputation and affected its support among the people.

Furthermore, the MDC has been grappling with a leadership crisis since 2018, which intensified following the passing of its founding leader, Morgan Tsvangirai. These internal struggles have hindered the party’s ability to effectively navigate the political landscape, contributing to its recent electoral defeat.

"The most disturbing moment in Europe was when i was playing in Bundesliga, the Augsburg Coach told me to sit back and not talk like an expert in Training session meetings because am from Zimbabwe that have less known players in Europe, So would rather listen more to players from Brazil and Germany. I was at loan there, I wanted to cry, but there was nothing I can do because I was loaned i didn't belong to the club. I told my parent Club, they asked that Coach, He denied all that,. And from there i was not even considered to be on the bench but I was always out of the match day squad, but luckily He got fired and the new coach used me regularly "

UK proposal to ban Trophy Hunting imports

Briefing and Interview with

Lord Mancroft, UK conservative peer,
Professor Patience Gandiwa, and
Prof. Amy Dickman, director of Oxford University’s wildlife conservation unit

The UK government is pushing legislation to ban the importation of hunting trophies.

The proposals, which those backing the bill say is intended to protect endangered species, have been widely attacked by leading scientists, conservationists and governments from across the southern Africa region. Experts and commentators are calling it hypocritical and a form of neo-colonialism

Far from protecting endangered species, the planned UK Bill will likely put species at greater risk by undermining a hunting revenue model which protects natural habitats, funds anti-poaching resources and compensates communities involved in human-wildlife conflict.

But the UK is refusing to listen to expert opinion, or the views of those who live and work alongside wildlife in Africa.

British ministers have even suggested that those impoverished by a hunting trophy import ban should apply for UK aid or grants, in what several African governments have described as a ‘19th Century’ attitude towards African development.

The Hunting Trophies legislation is currently being scrutinised by the UK Parliament and Lord Mancroft, a conservative peer, would like to brief you on the growing opposition and resentment towards the UK government’s proposals. He will be joined by Prof. Patience Gandiwa, an internationally recognised conservation scientist and Director with Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority and Prof. Amy Dickman, a renowned conservationist and big cat specialist, who has studied the impact of hunting on endangered species for many years.
