DR KENNETH KAUNDA TO BE ACCORDED A CEREMONIAL STATE FUNERAL ON 2nd JULY
....as Her Honour the Vice President Inonge Mutukwa Wina announces that Dr Kaunda's remains will be taken around all the Ten Provinces starting with Southern Province on June 23

GOVERNMENT has announced Friday, 2nd July, 2021, as the date for the State to accord First Republican President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda a Ceremonial State Funeral to allow for the participation of international dignitaries.
Speaking when she made the announcement today, Her Honour the Republican Vice President Inonge Mutukwa Wina said the State Funeral would be held at the National Heroes Stadium.
Mrs Wina said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would provide further details on administrative and logistical arrangements to the Diplomatic Corps at a Meeting scheduled for June 22.
She said Government would ensure the strictest adherence to COVID-19 Guidelines by firmly restricting participation to the State Funeral to Heads of State, to be accompanied by one Official.
“All the relevant COVID-19 measures, including social distancing, will be managed by the Military during the State Funeral. To allow for our visiting dignitaries that wish to bid farewell to their elder Statesman, the ceremony will be short, yet befitting, to enable them arrive in time and depart immediately after the ceremony,” She said.
Meanwhile, Mrs Wina said the remains of the late Dr Kenneth Kaunda will be taken around all the 10 provinces starting with Choma, Southern Province on 23rd June and end in Lusaka Province on Monday, 5th July.
She said the Provincial Programmes shall include route lining where residents in the Provinces shall line designated routes to view the cortege and pay their last respects.
“It is the wish of the family of His Excellency Dr. Kaunda, that the remains of our Founding Father be taken around to all the 10 Provinces of our great country.
