Shiwang'andu Man Kills Wife Over Nshima

A man has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife over nshima in Shiwang'andu District of Muchinga Province.

Amos Mwansa, 35, is accused of beating Felistus Bowa, 31, to death with his fists, kicks and slaps after she told him that she had not cooked nshima for him.

The incident happened on Saturday night at Sampule Village in chief Chibesakunda's area, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police Ronald Zambo.

Ms Bowa, who had an eight-month-old baby girl from a previous marriage, had married Mr Mwansa a month ago.

Mr Zambo said Mr Mwansa had returned home drunk from drinking locally brewed beer in the village and demanded nshima from his wife.

When she said she had not cooked, he became angry and assaulted her until she died.

Some neighbours who heard her cries for help caught Mr Mwansa before he could escape and reported the matter to Matumbo Police Post.

Police officers found Ms Bowa's body lying outside the hut with a swollen stomach, minor bruises and f***l matter.

The body was taken to Chinsali General Hospital Mortuary for postmortem.

Mr Mwansa was detained in custody and investigations were launched into the matter.

Once upon a time , Prime TV journalist was chased at Davies Mwila’s Press Conference , then ECL instructed that it be closed completely and it should never come back .

Workers were thrown into joblessness , companies that advertised on this TV station lost airtime , and management was left guessing .

Later , ZRA was unleashed on the poor TV station to completely bury it .

We knocked at every door to access ECL , but he responded through handlers that he did not want to ever see Mr Gerald Shawa’s face .

Meanwhile , HH gave Prime TV assurance that ECL was going in 2021 and that Prime TV would live again .

Prime TV came to life when this man called ECL was gone . Today , this man wants coverage at all times with his minions .

Some media owners attempted to sue Prime TV over very flimsy grounds , while some completely blacked out Prime TV grievances from their news .

Prime TV was then history …. Some workers persisted and kept Prime TV’s spirit at Joy FM .

Prime TV is alive again , and all those who clapped as it was getting closed are busy looking for coverage on daily basis …what an experience!!

ZAMBIA CHANGES EDUCATION SYSTEM: 6 YEARS OLD ELIGIBLE TO GET INTO GRADE 1.

● Zambia adjusts education system

● Early Childhood hood Education reduced from 4 to 3 years.

● Schools grading system to run from Grade 1-6(Primary Education).

● FORM to 1 to Form 3 ( Secondary Education).

● Form 4 to 6 (A Levels).

The Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary , Education Services, Mr Joe Kamoko writes in his preamble:

"Above all, the 2023 Education Curriculum has adjusted the structure of the education system from 4-7-2-3 to 3-6-4-2.

EARLY AND PRIMARY EDUCATION

Early Childhood Education (ECE) has been reduced from 4 to 3 years , while primary education level has also been reduced from 7 to 6 years, with eligible age entry also being reduced from 7 to 6 years.

SECONDARY EDUCATION-FORM 1-FORM 3

The secondary education level has been restructured and increased from 5 to 6 years.

A-LEVELS

This is to accommodate 2 years of A- levels. Thus, learners will be provided with 4 years of ordinary secondary education and 2 years of advanced Secondary ("A" level).

Notably, Forms have replaced Grades at Secondary school level.

70 YEAR OLD UGANDA WOMAN GIVES BIRTH TO TWINS

A 70-year-old Ugandan woman has given birth to twins, "an extraordinary feat", her doctor told AFP on Thursday.

"It's an extraordinary feat to give birth to twins" for a 70-year-old mother, Dr. Edward Tamale Sali, who supervised her pregnancy and delivery, told AFP.

The mother, Safina Namukwaya, described the birth of the twins, a boy and a girl, on Wednesday as a "miracle".

Both mother and babies are in good health and are still under observation at a facility in the capital Kampala, continued Edward Tamale Sali. Safina Namukwaya usually lives in rural Masaka, some 120 kilometers west of the capital.

Only three years ago, the septuagenarian gave birth to a daughter, after being described as a "cursed woman" for not having been able to have children before.

With her first husband, who died in 1992, she had no children of her own. Ms. Namukwaya's current partner, whom she met in 1996, did not attend the birth, much to her dismay.

"Maybe he's not happy that I gave birth to twins (...) for fear of the responsibilities that entails," she said. [AN]

Despite the dedicated efforts, not a single body has been retrieved at this point, intensifying the urgency of the mission.

Chingola Member of Parliament, Chipoka Mulenga, has expressed sympathy for the affected families, acknowledging the profound impact of this incident on the community.

Speaking from the district, Mr. Mulenga emphasized that no one has been rescued so far. The government has mobilized additional resources, reinforcing their commitment to the rescue mission.

"This is a matter that needs everyone to put their heads together and provide leadership," urged Mr. Mulenga, highlighting the collective responsibility in navigating this crisis.

Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo weighed in, cautioning against misinformation circulating on social media regarding the number of bodies retrieved.

Mr. Matambo stressed that, as of now, no one has been rescued, and the government will issue an official statement on the ground situation.

In the face of uncertainty, the plea from authorities is clear – rely on verified information and avoid speculation fueled by social media. The gravity of the situation demands a united front, emphasizing the importance of accurate updates and collective support as the rescue teams work tirelessly to bring the trapped miners to safety.

The community remains on edge, awaiting official updates on the rescue efforts, with the realization that time is of the essence in this race against an unforgiving clock.
