THE HAND OF GOD ON HIS LIFE: Siya Kolisi, the Modern-Day Moses Leading South Africa to Glory-‘I DECIDED TO LOSE MY LIFE AND FIND IT IN CHRIST ’ — SIYA KOLISI
Siya Kolisi's journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, with many describing him as a Moses for today's generation. Much like the biblical figure who led the Israelites to the Promised Land, Kolisi has led the Springboks to multiple triumphs on the global rugby stage, restoring a sense of pride and freedom to the nation. His leadership has sparked a revival in South African rugby, culminating in historic victories that will be remembered for generations.
Kolisi has become the most decorated captain in the history of South African rugby, guiding the Springboks to numerous successes, including back-to-back Rugby World Cup titles. This achievement places him alongside New Zealand's Richie McCaw as only the second captain in rugby history to win two consecutive World Cup titles. In the eyes of many, Kolisi's leadership on the field is seen as a reflection of divine purpose—the hand of God guiding him through every battle, every victory.
Over the years, Kolisi has led the Springboks through a golden era of triumphs. From securing third place at the 2015 Rugby World Cup to the resounding victory in the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan, Kolisi has continued to make history. He led the team to victory in the 2019 Rugby Championship and also spearheaded the unforgettable triumph in the 2021 British and Irish Lions Series Tour. This year, Kolisi once again captained the Boks to glory in the 2023 Qatar Airways Cup at Twickenham, followed by a monumental victory at the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
Most recently, Kolisi powered through with a try for the Springboks as they defeated New Zealand 18-12 in Cape Town, reclaiming the Freedom Cup. His inspirational leadership on the field continues to drive the Springboks forward, reminding South Africans of their resilience and strength.
The 33-year-old captain’s legacy is already cemented as one of the greatest leaders in the history of the sport.
